For those of you that hunt off the ground, what kind of seat do you use? I have thought about just taking a 5 gallon bucket with a padded lid and just sit against the base of a tree although I don't believe that would be too comfortable for extended sits.

I have two, one is a hammock seat which is outstanding and comfortable. The other is the millinium chair that attaches to a tree, great seat too. Either one you can't go wrong.

I have done the ole bucket with padded seat for alot of years. It doubled as something to carry stuff in also. But it wasn't good for really long sits . A couple hours at best for me. As I get older I had to go to something with back support and taller for my legs don't bother me as bad. Ended up with a seat that clamps to a tree. Works pretty good, it's light and very easy to carry.

I like to sit higher almost bartstool height I attached a three gallon to a 5 gallon bottom to bottom. Then added a swivel pad to the top. This set up isnt good though close to trees (as the ground isnt level and roots often are there at times
If I was hunting mostly against a tree Id use tree seat (they make them that attaches to the tree or leans against the tree.
Ive been wanting to try one of these as I would think movement would be easier (for the shot) https://www.hunterseat.com/? gclid=EAIaIQobChMIifDb9uDT3gIVBZ7ACh3tsQJmEAQYAyABEgKWSPD_BwE

I have one I put together, no pictures right now. Cushioned boat seat attached to a swivel, then attached to a collapsible step stool. It sits probably 10 inches from the ground.
It is pretty comfy, and you can stretch your legs out in front of you because it is so low to the ground.

Daniel, there were a couple of good threads on this same issue. One was "Best Seat for Ground Hunting" and the other was "Ground Hunting Seat". I just brought them both to the top for you.
Several very good choices. I went with the Millenium.

I have a seat that I made like the "hunter's seat" mentioned above.
I also have a "Torges Seat" that I made.
I like and use both. The Torges seat is a little easier to carry while the hunter's seat is a little faster to set up.

I own both of the Millennium chairs, a Nifty seat, a Waldrop knockoff, Double Bull folder, and the Hammock chair. Which one to I use most of the time? The Hammock Chair. I sewed a nylon belt with quick release to the bag so I can carry it horizontal in the small of my back. It weighs hardly nothing and is very comfortable. I killed a deer yesterday evening from that seat.

If I'm just walking in I bring a foam seat pad. For a spot I plan to hunt several times I'll lug in a cheap folding chair from one of the big stores. Stash it in some brush, use it with a length of camo netting over to hide the bright color.
