So I found an old recurve on Craig’s and took a gamble... Finish looked pretty bad...

Then I needed to know what length string to buy for it, and Danny just made me a couple. Turns out he and I like the same colors...
And the brace height came in right at 8”...

Then I posted a question about elevated rests... I’m hoping to get a Flipper II on there, but the Bear will do for now.
So how does it shoot?

First group with the new rest... Some vertical stringing - maybe partially because I was eyeballing the nocking point. Interestingly enough, my first shot was the best.
The two 2016s hit left of the group; the rest are two Arrowdynamics Trad Lites cut to 27.75”, an Entrada 600 cut about 28”, a full-length Beeman Hunter 500 and a full-length 1914 1984 Atlanta Olympics commemorative edition.

I know how it shoots. It shoots great. Took my first buck with a 52" Wing Thunderbird.

Group above is from an honest 20.
And then I gave it a go from a little farther back and got 6 into 10; 5 of which stayed within that 8” brace height.
Don’t go blind looking - the 6th was right on line with the tape, but in the dirt a few feet short of the backstop.
I was holding a BIT higher than I need to with my pet #55@28” LB... but not very darn much. Maybe a foot.

Comes in a headlamp polishing kit. Spent a ridiculously small amount of time on it and of the 4 oz. bottle, I probably have 3.75 left... lifetime supply.
Unless I go and squander it on the car... ONLY used the one product, but they had extra stuff in the pkg, if you had a lot more to do...

Next step will be raising the BH enough to get the Boi-oi-oi-oi-oi-oi-oing out of it, and then proper tuning... which I learned to do from 2bears and some of the other guys here...
So I’m not done yet, but it’s all coming together....

I have 3 that are the 62" model. To me they are the best shooting bow that I have found. Very fast, accurate, quiet and dead in the hand once it is tuned.

You know...
I guess I’d have to get it on a scale, but I’d just about swear that I can feel some sense of a let-off effect at full draw. Anybody else have a thought on that?
Maybe there’s something to these short bows after all....?

Maybe there should be a Man Law about hoarding these babies?
I recall looking at the Bob Lee site and thinking the prices were kind of high for “production” bows, but if they all shoot like this.... I mean, there’s no way to account for the down-range accuracy but by the stability of that riser.... is there?
I shoot the RER so well that it’s my Go-To, but it’s not very often that I can print 5 shots into a strip 2” wide at 20 yards, and judging by the tightness of the group for those two 2016s, I’m not convinced that they’re just flyers...

It's not just the stability of the riser...my Don Adams clone (on the right beside by my two 62" T-Birds) is just as stable and weighs much less.

Took a few more shots in the dark this evening - raised the brace height a couple times and can’t quite get rid of the string noise, but she shoots on auto-pilot. Dark grey carbons about 40 min after sunset and just enough light to make out the shot-out white area...
There’s a line down the middle there, and somehow I found it 4/4....
Ol, tbe Top one was off the line by about 5/8”

One of my favorite bows. Looks and handles almost exactly like my Bill Stewart. If memory serves, he had a hand in the design of the Thunderbird.

On that let off you are feeling. It is fixing to let go and come un-wound at your long draw length. 8^) Hi GF >>>----> Ken
