Hell thee, looking for suggestions to pair redwood limbs with. I’m set on redwood, but it tends to clash with many woods. Have pictures of a good accent wood for the riser? Thanks!

My thunderchild has spalted maple and macassar ebony in the riser with the redwood burl limbs. Looks pretty good I think.

Leadwood would look good. Just the dark lead wood not the dark and light.

Thanks Big Jim. Wasn't sure, this was a used one I picked up. I like Macassar even better now, but, zircote and black limba for my next buffalo!

Do you need something neutral in color? Maybe a light wood like tiger maple, or a light brown wood like sapele, or gray actionwood? Bubinga might be close in color or contrast a bit depending on the specific piece. Macassar is certainly nice.

For a small riser like that on a Thunderchild, you could add a thin red and a thin black laminate between the riser wood and the limb lay-up. Pool cues frequently use black and white trim with exotic woods. They also use a bit of silver inlay but I haven't figured out how to incorporate that in a bow.

For a larger riser I can see a front half of black phenolic and the other half light or neutral wood. I always liked those flares cut down the middle of the risers like Blacktail or Timberhawk use.

There are sites that show wood wedding bands that pair a lot of different shades of wood together. This is the fun part of ordering a new bow.
