recurves are usually always smoother but a lot of its subjective.. at 28 in draw shouldn't matter much, a lot depends on draw weight to a 40# bow will feel smoother then a 50#er.

Stix, I sent you a PM on this. Either one, then down the road buy the other.

Actually there should be little or no difference in the "smoothness" of the 2 designs based on the force/draw curve. There will be a difference in the perception of the draw cycle however. And draw weight has -0- to do with smoothness.

I have the Black Hunter longbow. Love it. I've been hunting with it lately and my pricier bows sit inside..

Ive had both, loved both. 1 was not better then the other, in my opinion.

Theres a black hunter riser in the classifies. With the money you save, could buy both recurve and longbow limbs and see what one you like best. Honestly dont think you could go wrong with either.

Their is a used one on ebay right now with 4 carbon arrows. It is a recurve. If you offer him 80 to 85 dollars he will take it. It is bamboo core.It is listed for sale at 95 dollars or best offer. That is a good buy for that bow, and the arrows are a bonus.10.95 shipping.

I have two of them now with longbow limbs..40,45&50. Sandy

The quality, fit, finish and shoot ability of mine is really wonderful. This bow certainly rates a "Best Buy" in my book and I have made or owned some of the nicest customs from around the country. I think you will like this bow. Fill us in after it arrives. jwingman

I just bought one after reading this thread, was looking for a low poundage bow for the friends and family that come by my house, see me shooting and want to try archery. I am impressed, for the money this bow is a real steal.

Yup have two of the Black Hunter longbows with extra limbs. Am really impressed with the bow and for the price it sure can’t be beat, IMO. Have maple cored limbs and a set of bamboo ones on the way.

I will take a curve any day. All personal preference. And I have owned some great longbows. Buy used. Market is totally buyer oriented right now. Get a Damon Howatt Hunter.

It is personal preference Dave, and the Black Hunter longbow or recurve are both awesome bows. I hunt with a recurve for a couple of days and with a longbow (semi recurve/hybrid) for a few days and love both of them. Also have two longbows that I use. Mine are from the 60's and 70's and one longbow from the 40's. I will say I'm more consistent overall with my recurve.

I would send the samic back and see if they will give you a new bow

For the money they are a Fantastic bow I have the Longbow 50# That said it will never shoot 485 grains at 195fps if that matters to you. I did take it out west as a backup bow though.

Good for you Stix..you can't go wrong. I'm generally a recurve guy but not this season. I wish that longbow came in a longer length...64" would be great..I could even make 62" work probably....but 60" with a 30+ draw isn't very smooth.
