Question: Got a 3-4 in diam. pin cherry growing out of a stump I'm digging out in the back yard. Looks like its gonna come down with the stump. I want to attempt a first try self bow with the green wood asap. Can this kind of wood be used effectively to make a good 'practice bow'? Practice in both making self bows, and shooting practice once its done. And is it worth trying with green wood like this? Thanks.

Any cherry is pretty much worthless as self bow wood Calvin. Sure, there are a few anomalies out there, but very few. Green wpood is a no go. It wont teach you much of anything, except maybe working hand tools.
