Has anyone had good results from mock scrapes in conjunction with a scent dripper?

Never tried them Dale but have heard from folks that say they work sometimes and sometimes not.

I have had mixed results using them. Now I make a scrape and use vanilla as a sent. I freshen it up every time I hunt. This little guy likes it.

That's likely not much help but it's pretty much what their experience was around here.

I got the gland stuff and and did the drops on broken branches. A scrape line developed and two other people found it and blanketed the scrape line with tree stands. Neither one got a shot at a deer for the entire season.

I pee in most nock scrapes I make but have had decent success using Code Blue Gravedigger in the past. Never had much reaction to the drippers.

To elaborate on the hemp. You use Smokey's sents and you don't need a dripper because you get something better. A real deer takes over the scrape.

No need for dripper I feel a waist of time I pee in mine and there's sugar and protein in my urine so they must think I'm a monster buck.LOL
They tear things up. Grind into the ground digging holes that can hold water that they can drink out of. One time I went to a site that a tree feel down had one of my stands in it. And the tree was all around over top the scrape. I could not believe they found a way to get into it and were digging it out so I thought they are eating the dirt to? They weren't hauling it away in a dump truck. Tracked up all over in the dead of winter. That was a fantastic stand and a big wind storm took my stand down.

Hi Dale! Two years ago I did a little experiment trying different lures, Tinks vs Code Blue vs some concoction they were selling in my home town sports store. Placed trail cams over mock scrapes with drippers over all three. I didn't have a single daytime pic on any and even then the only scrape hit even frequently was in a well used funnel where they're have to step over it to pass. I believe it's better to make a row of mock scrapes without a dripper past your stand and let the deer take over. Good luck to you and send me any pics of the big one you put your tag on!

Why not just hunt buck sign? Travel routes are good as well since bucks will be up and looking for does before they are really ready.

Update on mock scrapes and scent dripper. Put out two scent drippers and mock scrapes on Sunday, checked them this morning after four days. One scrape had several does and two small bucks checking it out. The other scrape had several does check it out and one deer that the head was off camera. It does not appear any of the bucks have "taken over" the scrapes. Both bucks visited during daylight hours and would have presented 15 yard shots. Now the real test for these mock scrapes will be if those bucks or other bucks re-visit the scrapes and any "shooter" bucks visit during daylight. Will keep you posted on my findings.

I've personally not had much luck with mock scrapes or drippers. I've hunted scrapes or scrape lines I've come across and its probably been 50/50 on seeing anything. I know a lot of bucks in my area seem to scrape at night. If I hunt a scrape in the eve and I plan on hunting it again the next a.m. I always put 2 small twigs in the middle of the scrape crossed and lots of times I've come in the a.m. to see those twigs pawed away. But heck, I still hunt the scrape anyway. Who can predict the behavior of an amorous buck? Not me!

I pee in mock scrapes and real ones. A couple years ago my grandson came out with me while I tracked and recovered a 7 ptr. There are always a couple scrapes there every year under the same tree where I had my stand. I peed in one, and my (at the time) nine year old grandson peed in the other. The next morning I checked them after I got down, and the two scrapes were now one big one. A few days ago I peed in four scrapes within ten yards of a tree I hunted. A bobcat walked in a few feet from me, walked over to one of the scrapes, and sniffed it. Stood in that scrape for three minutes before continuing on.

Pee in your scrapes and if you really want them crazed dump some sugar in it and see the next time you look at it.

RymanCat, What's weird is, it's ok for me to pee in a scrape here, but if I pour sugar in it, I could be cited for be baiting.
