I currently shoot Beman Center Shot .500 spine. I get great flight, I am thinking of trying different arrows, (Gold Tip Classic), and am wondering if can I still shoot their .500 spine or are different manufacturers spine sizes that different.

Thanks

Spine numbers are usually pretty reliable from manufacturer to manufacturer. Of course there will always be slight variance from brand to brand, lot to lot and even arrow to arrow. But in short, not enough that many of us could outshoot. It would be a very good idea to spend time checking the tune on your new arrows regardless just to verify. Remember longer equals weaker and smaller diameter lets you use a bit heavier spine as it moves the shaft closer to centershot.

That being said, i think youll be very close with another brand in 500.

Should work.

Well they should be tested at the factory before being marked for spine, so I 'spect they will be fine. If you have someone close with a spine meter, have them check them for consistency around the shaft. That is usually where issues occur when it's not the same all around.

Diameter is probably more of an issue than spine. If they say .500 they should have .500's of deflection. Unless your arrows are pretty expensive they're not consistent.

Regardless you'll have to tune again to make sure, especially if you're shooting broadheads.

I bought a saw at Harbor Freight for 29 bucks. That was 5+ years ago.

find a Phillips screwdriver that fits tight inside the shaft & cut with a tubing cutter
