It doesnt matter what the cost. It is the story that matters. The antler on this one is crom one of the last bucks my stepdad has killed. We grew up hunting to eat we kept horns when they had them but didn't worry much about them. One day some random stranger stopped and asked my stepdad for his horns, they had a conversation and he let them go with the guy. A couple days later he came back with the antler carved with some deer tracks and ready for a blade to be added. It has been rolling around a box of mine for a while, just didn't really suit my fancy. Well i picked up this blade not long ago and ran across the antler looking for some wood to make some scales...tell ya with a blade in it this is my special knife now. Just goes to show sometimes we don't realize the beauty in something till we put the work into it.

I have an old Marbles knife that came by surprise. My Dad uses his father's, once he past, and it's pretty well worn down from butchering and hunting. Knowing someday I will inherit it. Well about twentythree years ago one of my grand dads buddy called dad and asked him to come to his house with out much of a reason. He gave Dad another Marbles knife. Here grand dad had gotten two marbles knives from cereal box tops way back when and gave his hunting buddy one. Since he could no longer hunt or even get around he wanted grandpa's grandson to have it.

My father-in-law had an old Sterling fixed blade that was kind of in disrepair. Knifeguy (Lance Grimsby) cleaned it up, fixed the wobbly handle and put a good edge on it a few years back. He also made a nice sheath for it. That knife means more to me then most I've owned. Lance also made a copy of a Shrade Sharpfinger, but with a much nicer handle, that is a superb knife. I usually have both of them in the truck for using on my hunts.

The photo shows the old Sterling lower left, and the other Knifeguy model beside it.

Thanks for the kind words George. We are a funny breed, we knife people are. I have custom knives, old knives, new knives, expensive and not so expensive knives and carry this one everywhere when I’m out in the yard or in Colorado with Peter and Kerry chasing Wapiti. I didn’t get to use it in CO but it was there. Paid one whole dollar for it at St Vincent de Paul thrift store and made the latigo sheath from some remnants given to me by Jay St Charles who got them from Jack Bower. Easy to keep sharp and clean. I love these old Imperal cheep plastic handled knife's good steel and man I got it shaving sharp I am just tickled to find one with a moose in the handle never seen one like this before usually they have black. Best of all got it for 5 bucks what do you buy for 5 bucks these days. Widow

Moms old knife - had reconditioned

Found this Puma Skinner in the middle of a gravel road couple years ago. Had bone scales that were pretty well gone from being run over multiple times but there was enough to pattern with so made some with Russian Olive from my shelterbelt and then took a propane torch to it. Sealed with superglue. Looked it up and they’re priced retail around 150.00. Guessing someone was bummed when they went looking for their hunting knife.

Great memories, now you can take it hunting and make some more.

Mine is/was a Buck 102. In 1982 I was 10yrs old, and I had to have one after my buddies Dad bought one for him. My Dad said if I want one, save your money and buy it yourself. I did. 22$ if I remember correctly. I used it to gut and skin every big game animal I ever killed. Once on an Elk hunt in Idaho I realized it was not on my belt. I spent hours and miles retracing my steps from the day before. I found it!! It was better than killing an elk that day. Unfortunately it is now laying on the hills above the Allegheny river

I lost that 102 last bear season when hunting in an all day rain crawling through mt. Laurel for about 5 hrs. The sheath must have gotten soft and the belt loop tore off. I still morn that knife.

My late father's Swedish knife he bought in Maine, Rockwood Station if I recall correctly, before WWII.

And my everyday carry, a swiss army knife, my folks got me in 1966.

Oh, the Buck knife from the girlfriend, well, she was the one, we've be married 46 years last month.

I have a lot of knives ( around 45 or 50 ) but only two special knives because they are sentimental to me. Top knife is a Buck model 102 woodsman my Dad bought me in 1971. My Dad even had my name engraved on it. The bottom knife is a Ideal knife that was my father-in-laws. Both my Dad and my father-in-law are gone now.

My fathers knife.

Mine's a simple folding Buck with my name engraved. It was a gift from my first wife, who died from heart disease 23 years ago at the age of 41.

I've since remarried to a beautiful, wonderful lady who's also my best friend and soulmate.

But I never shall nor ever should forget my first! The good lord has blessed me greatly!

This Jolly Jones given to me by my father in law. Jolly Jones has a pretty cool history and is still in the Jasper AR to the best of my knowledge. I think he is probly around 80 now.He gave a knife to LBJ and it is on display at his presidential library. I love how the 1 in 2015 is upside down also its scary sharp

Dad bought this for me when I was a Cub Scout, had it for almost 50 yrs. Carry it every day. Special knife? You bet.

Top rt. is my favorite. I purchased it it 1959 for $1.95, new. German steel.
