thinking about using some VPA's 175 grain on elk, I use a 54lb longbow and total arrow weight is 530 grains has anybody used a similar set up on elk and how did it go,

There's nothing on this continent that set will not kill when hit in the right place.

I have been using 2 blades for elk in the past and the area I am now hunting is really thick and a good blood trail is a must, an exit wound is a must also, so thinking about using the VPA's I've used them for deer and antelope for several years and I like the idea of cutting a hole rather than a slit, just looking for others experience's

My 2016 bull was killed with a 52# longbow and g5 Montecs. My 2015 bull was killed with a 50# longbow and g5 Montecs. Booth bulls went less then 30 yards. Hit a bull right and he won't go nowhere. Doesn't matter if you have an exit hole or not.

I agree with Buglmin about hitting them in the right spot. A VPA will out penetrate a short stumpy G5 all day long. So you have your answer.

A grizzly instinct is another good option. Little longer than the vpa.

Question for you low-50s shooters… What’s your draw length looking like?

There is not a better 3 blade made than the VPA. And their 2 blade is my favourite as well.

Very similar setup. Complete pass through, double lung.
