Does increasing the brace height make the arrow shaft seem stiffer or weaker? Is there a GENERAL formula for how much point weight needs to increase or decrease per increment of increase in brace height?

The bow in question is a 66" 52#@28" Deathwish mild deflex-reflex longbow.

I could have possibly searched the archives for the answer, but I am confident those currently in the know have far greater experience and wisdom. :)

Unless you are very borderline spine on your arrows, you likely won't see much difference. Most of us use brace as part of the tuning process to find the sweet spot. Brace is a dynamic, so it's up to you to find out how it affects your arrow flight....if at all.

Adjusting the brace height to a greater depth with outside of center shot bows, when shooting arrows that are borderline too stiff, can often get the arrow to clear the bow a little cleaner. With pure center shot bows, you will not see as much effect. One way to tell if your arrows are too stiff with an outside of center longbow is to take the leather off of the sight window, if you get a slight improvement, but can hear the arrow click against the bow, a change in brace height is due.

By raising the BH you increase the distance between the arrow nodes or bending point and weakens the arrow a bit.

Lowering the BH will shorten the distance of the nodes on the shaft and strengthen the arrow.

A brace of 7.5" vs a brace of 7.0" , the longer of 7.5 will just bump up your total draw weight , so it will weaken a shaft, thus the 7.0 would stiff up a shaft . start with the recomended and a brace which gives you spec draw weight , and tune it by slight amounts to get flight . my two cents

Brace height has no affect on draw weight as it pertains to arrow spine. The only thing that brace height will do is cahnge slightly where the bow will gain weight during the draw cycle.

Lower brace height softens the front end of the draw (the limbs just aren't strained as much) higher brace height stiffens the front end of the draw cycle.
