What is the best glue to use for Microflite shafts, when gluing in inserts.I would like to be able to remove them if needed. How does the Bonning-insert iron work for them or would hot melt work better?

PM George Stout

He diddles with them

I have never used one but would try the hot melt?

Hot melt is all I use in all my arrows. I use low temp and only use a thin skin of it around the inside of the shaft. Heat the insert with a point in it and push in and turn till tight.

Do not get flame on the glass...it's a composite with resins/glues mixed in and flame is not good. Just heat the points. That's why the low temp works well and it isn't as brittle as the higher temp hot melt.

What George says. When those shafts were all the rage all we had was hot melt.

Hot melt for all shafts. As stated don't apply heat to the shafts.Screw an old point in the insert. Only heat the point until the insert will melt the glue, shove it in and twist it around to distribute the glue. Same thing for removing inserts only heat the point. As soon as you can twist it with pliers the glue is not holding, pull it out. >>>----> Ken
