anyone use tie on string nocks? how do you make yours and are they adjustable? Might want to give them a try and was wanting opinions Thanks

Yes I do with dental floss. Not adjustable. Someone, maybe Rick Barbee, had picks on how to tie them so they are adjustable.

Look up how to tie a nail knot. Best to use something that is a little bigger in diameter than your serving material.

I just keep tying overhand knots all the way around. There is a little adjustment there and when I am sure I nave the correct oak point I hit it with some Duco.

I think someone on here gave that tip.

I use adjustable tie on nocks. As MPDH said, use material that is thicker than your serving. I learned to do it watching a Rick Barbee video. Pretty simple once you do it a few times.

I make them and if they are in the right position I put a drop of superglue on them.

Rick Barbee has a u-tube video that I refer to when my memory fails.

I use dental floss and tie them so they don't move. I don't like the heavier/thicker material for nocksets. You just tie them off like a whip-finish on a dry fly.

2x Whip finish dental floss or 20# power pro and a drop of super glue.

I use the nail knot that Rich uses. I leave the tag ends long - about 3 inches. I just pull them tight and start shooting. I use one up and one down. You can adjust it one serving of string at a time.

For some reason, I can't do that with brass. Once I'm comfortable that I have the right place, I tighten by pulling the tag ends, superglue, and then cut the tags off with a razor.

I use strands off of an old bow string. I tie double overhand knots going back and forth from top to bottom as you look over the top of the string until I reach my desired thickness of the nock. Clip and burn the ends. I do a double nock set on my strings. These are actually adjustable if you don't cinch them too tight. I also put a dab of super glue on them when I'm positive they are correct.

All I've ever used. I've shot with the brass nicks before but they sometimes wear on your shooting glove. They are real easy to tie there a few YouTube videos showing how

No idea why dental floss is so popular. Guess I should try it & see what I am missing. I just use bow string material. One old bow string will make a zillion. >>>----> Ken

Use dacron fishing line, 20 or 25# test. I tie a bobber stop knot, and wet it while pulling tight, then cut ends and melt. Works great.

I use old bow string and the knot in this video.

Unlike a nail knot this takes literally seconds to tie and it is adjustable.

I use a shorter piece and tighten it with my hands.

Set up 80 bows like this.

Another here that watched Rick Barbee's video and most easiest of three ways I have learned to do them. Now Lancaster Archery sells a Tie on knock thread and I believe it's 75 yards and about $6.00 a spool .They have a few colors to choose from and I chose red.Watch the video and he makes it so simple.

Florescent orange D97. Easier on old eyes.

Been using dental floss for 50 plus years. I use the waxed floss and after the nocking point is tied on I add wax to the nocking point and carefully melt the wax into the point.

From: Tradarcher4fun

I use serving string with a drop of superglue so it doesn’t move.

From: Skeets
Date: 02-Oct-18

Waxed dental floss tied the same as George Stout I think. Then wax the floss with beeswax. No heat or glue.

From: Live2hunt

Yep, I use the nail knot now instead of brass. I love the adjust-ability of it and that there is no big knob like a brass knock point has.

I have been tying on my nocks for over 20 years,I use two tie on nocks. It just looks more traditional then crimp on brass nocks and doen't require any tools.

Thread and fletch glue. No adjustment.

Constrictor knot and double constrictor knot here :-) JF

From: Drewster
Date: 02-Oct-18

A nail knot is the ticket. I use a heavy waxed sewing thread for leather work. I shoot 3 under so tie on two nock points. And yes, they are adjustable.

From: Pdiddly
Date: 02-Oct-18

I just discovered the knot in my video post above is the double constrictor as recommended by bodymanbowyer.

It's 20 seconds to tie and 10 seconds to trim and burn.

I tune with a metal nock. Once tuned and string marked, I overserve for one inch above and one inch below leaving a 1/4 inch gap. It never slips or moves...………. ymmv

From: bodymanbowyer
Date: 02-Oct-18

Drewster knows, it's easy and quick. Can be adjustable once you learn how to to "tighten" the knot right. JF
