Has anyone tried fletch tape I’m having a time finding a glue that will hold I’ve tried platinum the Saunders arrow mate and fletch fuse on aluminum and if they get damp at all they are turning loose

Yes, i tape. And use wraps. No problem here. Are you cleaning your shafts well? All glues mentioned are well known glues and all have worked well for me also.

I use a green scouring pad, wipe off with paper towel, rubbing alcohol with a q-tip, takes a few seconds to dry. Then make sure your fingers don't touch where your feathers go and use Platinum Plus glue. Never had a problem with aluminum or carbon shafts.

Or go with wraps.

Yes I clean with alcohol and let dry just can’t get them to hold this year for some reason just thinking about trying tape and kinda wondering how durable it is

I have no trouble with aluminum and Saunders NPV, or Fletchtite. You need to clean the shafts well before fletching. Been using those glues on aluminum since the late 60's.

I went to fletch tape quite a few years ago, wraps too.Its the best.No mess and you can do a dozen arrows in no time.

You're doing something wrong, like maybe not cleaning the shaft well? ANd if that's the case, you may have the same problem with tape. AMybe you aren't getting the clamp far enough down in jig to seat the feather to the shaft well, or you're using too much helical?

Saunders NPV will hold on anything as far as I can tell.

I use tape paired with tenacious tape reflective tape. Its a reflective cloth tape that i use for wraps. They sell it @ walmart. Taping my feathers im able to swap out feathers and continue using the same wrap. Plus the tape can be seen a mile away @ night. Sure cuts down on lost arrows, and the never ending cycle of buying wraps.

I hate wraps, I think it ruins the look of crested arrows .

I don’t do bare shaft fletching anymore. I either use cap wraps on carbon and aluminum or spray the cap on woods. Yes, you can crest on wraps. I also put a coat of wipe on Polycrillic before fletching. I mostly use NPV glue but Fletch Tite works as well. One of my AWOL arrows from last year was found. Sun, heat, and rain matted the feathers but they didn’t fall off. Really don’t see any reason to change.

I have no problem with Fletchtite on aluminum but I do clean my shafts. I tried tape and found it to be a waste of time and money. JME.

I use the tape and wraps...make sure to wipe down shaft with alcohol before wraps and then wipe wraps before fletch..use Loctite superglue gel drop at front and back of each fletch after using tape...no issues

I have had good luck with fletch tape, good luck with superglue too. I think the trick is wiping the shaft with denatured alcohol and then being careful not to touch it and get hand oils on the glueing surface.

I've been using fletch tape for several years. On wood shafts in my case, but I can say that I've never had a problem with the tape 's durability. My fletching gets used pretty hard as I stump shoot a lot; fletching has blown thru stump hundreds of times, got stuck in 'em and pulled out, gotten lost and then found months (or longer) later with the feathers beat up but the quills and tape holding up fine.

Be sure to use the Bohning brand tape if you try it. Drop of glue at front and back of quill (I sometimes skip the drop on back). Run fingernail along the quill when mounted to shaft, to ensure you've got full contact.

yes I use it all the time never had an issue

use the same method as described by firekeeper

How old is your glue? Glue does have a shelf life. Use denature alcohol, not rubbing alcohol, this should help.

I wipe my carbons with acetone then tape on feathers, they stay put till i cut them off

From: nomo

I like the tape. Clean shafts well no matter what you use. If you still want to use glue that NPV works great on clean shafts.

From: 76aggie
Date: 24-Sep-18

I just started using the tape last year and I really like it. I had no issues with Fletchtite either but I can do it faster with the tape. I clean the shafts (carbon) first with acetone and have no problems with adhesion. note: I do store the tape in my refrigerator.

IGNORANCE ALERT? TRENT...What kind of alcohol are You using? I have NO experience but aren't there different kinds of alcohol?? Maybe You should use ACETONE (CAREFULLY?) just saying? BLESSED BE! BATMAN

From: mahantango

Yes, denatured alcohol. Rubbing alcohol has glycerine in it.

From: Nemophilist

I use fletchtite glue and tape and I've never had a problem with either.

Funny how this keeps happening. I never had trouble until they went to Platinum then I left trails of feathers. I went to super glue and never looked back. No harsh chemicals for cleaning. A tiny dab will do you and it is fast. Best thing it is available every where. I hate the outrageous mailing fees or the 25 mile drive to a bow shop. >>>----> Ken

Another thing to consider (Beyond cleaning the shafts very well)? Might be a problem with humidity when You go to fletch? Have to be in a controlled environment. COOL and LOW humidity! Just a thought??
