At 70 years old, I realize that even more. Thank God!

Today, I got to hunt a nice area close to my house.

I arrived at dawn and I just sat near a game trail for about 90 minutes. I saw some squirrels and heard some geese. Last Saturday, opening day, I heard a bobcat snarl and saw some turkeys near the road on the way to my spot.

It is a pretty area. I am blessed.

When the hunt was over I did some roving. It's fun.

This year I am hunting with my black locust self-bow. I left a layer of sapwood on it because I did not have enough heartwood for a bow. Hope you enjoyed your time with me. Jawge

Thank God we can still get in the woods, George. I forgot to attach a photo...age. :)

I know what you speak of, I am 71 years young and in fairly good health. I enjoy each and every day and shooting my bows making my own equipment is such a joy. I too have a short trip to the woods. Yesterday I came face to face with a very large 6 point buck while doing some scouting, it was great. Enjoy all!!

Jawge thank you for bringing us with you, I am 72 and have a very difficult time hunting anymore because of the swamps and heavy growth that comes on fast every year, I love the clean woods you folks have up there, that would be heaven for me.

And most of all I really appreciate the help you have given me on my selfbow building.

You have a beautiful bow there, you are definitely blessed as we all are because we have lived this long and still can draw a bow.

Thanks again for bringing us along, you made my day.......Ron

Thanks, monkeyball. Nice spots close to home are rare here. I've lost some of my hunting areas to houses.

chazz, That must have been exciting!

Thanks, Ron. Glad to help you. Yesterday, was a tough day for me. We lost Jim Fetrow on the same day, 9/19, that I lost my brother who was 57. So you are correct, of course, everyday is precious. Jawge

As age comes upon us, we understand more and more how GOD has blessed us. His praise will EVER be. No one will take that away from us believers...We know! Bless you Gawge!

Nice George. I don't even want to talk about tough days its just not worth it anymore. Some seem rougher than others as our brothers drop like fly's.

On top of a rough one trying to work and maintain then Jim last night. Some of us just aren't as mentally tough anymore. I had to think about Jim last night and just lay my emotions at the alter with Christ. And boy oh boy were they flying around me as I was getting jabbed with a pitch fork at times.

There's tears here on earth but where we know or hope to go there aren't anymore.

As my health is failing more or less each day and then my dog as well as I watch her failing too. I just long for the day its finished and can only hope well done good and faithful servant. I'm tired of the fight as well as Jim was I know.

I been blessed and cursed in life with many things that God has shown me and now its those times I know are coming to the end and I wait on the Lord. Each day I try to put my best foot forward and some day she drags behind.LOL

Glad you were able to enjoy the outing George I can hear it as you described it too. I guess if I get out its not going to be about killing anymore and just enjoy whats left. The cry's in the wideness can you hear them in your head without being out there? I can. After losing my hunting buddy who was only 34 that's taken from what health still left now not much seems the same anymore.

A whole new perspective is ebbing for a lot of us.

Jawge I learned just after I posted that we lost Jim Fetrow (Dire Wolf) That is hard to take, that makes it much more rewarding to be able to rove into the woods even though you are not looking to hunt anything except maybe a log or tree. He will be greatly missed.

George, beautiful woods and bow too. As we get older its more important to enjoy every day to the fullest.

Its been awhile since I made a bow too, but your site, posts and replies were a huge help to me back in the day when Sefsick got me into building them.

thanks for sharing, hopefully you'll get something better eating than that old bark on your next hunt. :)

Ya know I just wanted to chime in. I'm 62 and love to shoot and hunt. It is truly an inspiration to hear you guys and I too am thankful for every day the Lord blesses me with. It's great to hear that guys that are 8-12 years older than me still enjoy being out there. I've wondered how I would feel if I couldn't do it anymore but hearing you (a little bit older guys) warms my heart. thank you

Timex hit the nail on the head. You don't have to be a church going man. To "feel" God's "Jesus's Presence in all of his glory. In his creation. The wilderness that we walk in to hunt and fish. Or just enjoying the views. And all the wilds have to offer us. There is something very spiritual about being in the wilderness. Being there as the golden sun starts to rise. And you start to feel it's warmth. Then as it starts to get lighter. You start to see the amazing colors of Autumn before your very eyes. For those that really take the time to really look and enjoy. There are times you will find yourself in complete awe and amazement of all the wonders and beauty that surrounds you. I can't wait to get out there in the Fall woods. My favorite time of year...:-)

I dont think I know any of you but you are a blessing to me. I'm 69 yrs. and have lost my daughter and wife but I thank God everyday that I can still hunt and fish. I'm slow but still go.

Thank you for letting me be a part of such great people.

P.S. I'm 10 years younger than you and I like my naptimes too! :)

Jawge, couldn't agree with you more especially with the onset of autumn. The urge to get out seems to increase every year even though the tag doesn't have to be used.

Really enjoyed shooting with you and hope to return this July. Take care and God Bless.

Jeff Ps enjoyed the Rove and bow.

Timex, Behold I knock at the door if anyone bid me come in I will come in and dwell with them.

Maybe look at it this way that the Lord has been knocking on your door and he came to your woods to meet you? He showed you some of his grandeur through the wilds you have been in and enjoyed.

Its simple this is not hard Jesus is the way, the only way to meet God is through the son of man.

Simple, acknowledge Jesus and that we have sinned and we seek forgiveness that only the Lord can provide. Not men who ask you to meet up. The direct relationship is with the Lord. Then comes the teaching and giving up and the spirit will guide you through it what to do next. All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.

Now there's other things but follow no man. Man will get you killed and lost if you take man into battle with you. Take the Lord is all the Lord asks.

Boys I have not given up but am fighting it everyday. If I hadn't been shown the things I have in life then I would not be who I am today in the Lord. The Lord saves each of us for purpose. Jim lived out his purpose and now he gets to rest but I doubt he is sleeping. I just bet he has already parachuted down into watching over someone he has been signed to.

Jesus does the saving and all we do is surrender our will. You do that and I promise you it will be beneficial and the spirit and the Lord will fill your life with things that you would never believe. Ask anyone who has truly been washed in the blood of the lamb and they will tell you about their walk in faith.

You can't make this stuff up or fake news about it.

Hope that's what we who believe are made off even when it looks bleak its not. The faith of a mustard seed is the faith one woman had and Mountains were moved.

You might not realize it but the Lord is protecting some of us right now who have not come to the hour to believe yet. The Lord is knocking on the door of your hearts.

Let him in and live free. All things work together for good for those who love the Lord.
