It is NOT ff compatable. According to manufactures of today ff compatable is when they put phenolic tip overlays on their bows. That being said a lot of guys on the wall pad the loops of there ff strings with ff material on vintage bows with good results.George Stout being one of them.I am doing it right now with a Damon Howatt Bandito. So far it is working. In the end it will have to be your decision. Two other options that you have is to tie a 10 strand b55 string or put phenolic tip overlays on your bow.JMHO

No. They are fiberglass. All of those vintage bows back then were made for b50 dacron or some thing similar.A lot of wallers still use that string on their vintage bows.B55 has less stretch than b50. A ten strand b55 string is a good compromise.I use it a lot on vintage bows. It works just fine.I use it on my selfbows also.

I think it's a Tigercat, not Tigershark, and I have used FF on them with good effect. Any old bow needs to have the string notch (nock, groove) looked at to make sure no edges exist to catch the string. I have never broken an old bow by using low stretch material and I always check the string notches for that reason. Just feel for any edge and use rolled sand paper or a round file to even them so the string makes a perfect teardrop.

Fast Flight material is just a choice and it won't saw through limbs or tear tips off if you have no issues to start with. A little pre use inspection is just common sense and will aid in the use of any string material.

I use padded loops on mine, but only because the string material is inherently small diameter compared to Dacron. I think the padded loops help too when it comes to overall quietness.

Can a string saw through fiberglass.

I don't use fast flight on any Bear's even the new one's. Just my quirk. definitely not an older one.

I've ruined band saw blades cutting through wood and fiberglass. Ain't no way a string fiber will do it unless there is already a crack. I've been using FF for a decade now on all my bows and they are all vintage. Luckily for those who are afraid of it, B-50 still works fine though.

Thanks for clearing up the name. I thought I had missed out on a Bear somewhere. I didn't make the connection but as soon as George said Tigercat--Ah Ha. That may be the only one that isn't a Bear. Not sure now since I didn't get Tigershark. :^) >>>----> Ken

What ever you choose to do make sure you always inspect your arrows and arrow nocks. One dry fire can trash a bow. I have seen it happen.
