Well today was opening day here in Missouri and I experienced both the high and the low of bow hunting. I seen several nice deer and had the opportunity to shoot a nice little buck. Unfortunately my arrow missed its mark and hit a few inches back. I did find a blood trail but decided to back off instead of pushing him. I will go back first thing in the morning but I am afraid the meat will not last.

If you find him pretty early and get him skinned and gutted quickly it will likely be okay. Unless it's a gut shot, then you might lose some meat.

Yes! Man thats great. I read your post last night and was thinking about it when I got up this morning as I have been there and know the feeling. All the practice in the world cant change the fact that hunting is sometimes unpredictable. You did good,way to stay after it and make good on a difficult situation. Congratulations,he is a beauty!

Congrats. You are a better man than I. I drove up from Ms. & hunted S. East Missouri where I grew up. Saw deer every sit but with the temps in the low 90's & 70 for the low I just couldn't make myself shoot. I'm thinking since I'm older now, I just don't get as mad at them like I used too.
