I want to list a bow for sale. What is a good way to package/protect the bow? It's a one piece Leclair shrew.

Pad and tape the tips so they aren't pointy. Then ship it in a rectangular box. Wrap it good in bubble wrap..and at each end put a rectangular hung of foam...about the size of the arrow separators that you get with new arrows. That will allow the package to run on the many conveyors than can spill a round container. Just don't allow any room inside for the bow to move up and down.

Pool noodles are great to protect the tips. >>>----> Ken

Longbows I like to use pvc pipe. Wrap the bow good and slide inside pipe .

PVC for me too. JF

For a longbow PVC downspout because it's not round. Multiple pieces of cardboard for the ends and a lot of bubble wrap.

I you use a tube, wrap something square around the middle to keep it from rolling off the automated carriers.

Rectangular box is usually my go to. And use the postal service without any problems, until today. My son is waiting on his bow coming from a boyer in Michigan. As we live in Michigan shouldn't be any problems right. It somehow is in Indiana right now heading to who knows where. Someone at the postal service made a mistake. Hopefully this won't turn into one of those " where is my bow "cases.

James Berry sent a custom bow to a friend of mine in a thin paper tube. It got broke. After that we always requested pvc. James is one of the best bowyers ever but his brain like most if us from time to time dont work to well lol.

pipe insulation for the tips, and pvc drain or downspout, as mentioned earlier.

Awesome ideas. I like the pvc downspout, with padding. Thanks for all the input guys.

another advantage of the pvc downspout is that you aren't charged extra for a "non-rectangular" shaped object as you are with pvc pipe....and that shrew is pretty curvy so the extra width will be good too.

I shipped one to Missouri from Virginia last year. I padded limbs and tips with foam pipe insulation. The "box" I made out of a water heater box cut and made into a 6"triangle 64" long. I cut triangles out of plywood and glued into the ends of the triangle tube I made. The bow got to it's new owner, no problem.

I have used the thick rolls that carpet comes on. The stores are glad to get rid of them and usually I could get more than I needed. I cut plugs for the ends from ethafoam chunks I have and wrap in bubble wrap and pad the ends really well. Never had a problem doing it that way...using USPS. UPS destroyed a heavy guage PVC tube I once shipped a bow in so never used them again. It had to have been run over by a fork lift or truck. They just left it at the guys door like that with the bow sticking out the end of the mangled pipe--no explanation.

I have continually struggled with ups. They tend to just leave notice that they missed me even when I have been at the house. The onetime they left something it was a one piece fly rod. The tube was standing on the broken side on my porch, fortunately it was a very flexible fiberglass rod and didn't break.

Thin walled pvc

Depends on the bow, if it's a straight longbow and it will fit in pvc pipe that's the way I would go. I've shipped and received fishing rods this way with zero problems. I only received one recurve that was shipped in a box and it was ok with no problems. I have received other packages that looked like they had been in a train wreck.

Is it Lefthanded ? PVC pipe is probably safest. Shrews are not usually over 60" use two post office arrow boxes and tape together. Wrap bow in bubble wrap. Use USPS insured shipping

I shipped a long two man saw to an artist who painted a bowhunting scene on it. I had the guys in our shop weld up an aluminum box for shipping to and from. You could have parked your truck on it and not hurt it.

I recently sent a bow from Va. to Or. via USPS it took four days and got there in perfect shape.

A good solid plywood box would be pretty safe. NOTHING in cardboard can be a sure thing.

Write on box don't bend, fragile! Tape tips and bubble wrap for the animals that are at PO everywhere who don't take pride.

They didn't get the memo make America great a lot of them!!!!!!!!!!

Make sure to Insure and track OH and pray it gets there safe. If you don't pray I suggest you learn too.LOL

I use a low grade PVC (sewer line) with screw top end caps. wrap bow in newspaper, put tape on. All in all done, $12.70.
