2bears helped me get straight on bare-shafting and I’ll tell ya...
1) I’m more accurate than ever
2) My arrows straighten up quicker, which means they scrub off less speed, which flattens out my trajectory, which makes me that much more accurate at a bit longer distance
3) Arrows that fly straighter penetrate better
Does that mean that a well-tuned #50 is as fast & effective as a poorly-tuned #55- #60? #65? #70 even???
Who knows?? I guess you could figure it out, but when it takes less time to learn how to do it than it takes to learn how important it is, you may as well learn something useful.
One thing I’ve learned (Over And Over, and usually The Hard Way) is that you can do things Right (kill a deer with a well-tuned set-up, for example) or you can do it Wrong (same deer, same shot, poor tune), but it goes easier on all concerned when you do it Right to begin with.
