I drew a FL tag for gators. I’d like to use my Hoyt Satori with 50# limbs. Add a couple pounds for for my 30” draw. I’d like to know what I should get for arrows and tips. I assume it would be different than my normal carp rig. ???

Your best bet will be with a muzzy gator arrow and an ams big game reel and float. I tried using a 40# bear montana last year but the gator ended up in the hyacinth and the arrow slowed down to much trying to get to the gator. Your bow will be a great set up just try and catch them in the open.

I have an AMS retriever. I need new string though

Muzzy makes a 600# gator cord for the reels but I wouldn't go that high unless you're hunting around a lot of things for it to rub on. I think the 350# would be plenty strong enough unless you're going for the monsters. Good luck with the hunt!

You can’t use a regular AMS retriever reel. It has to be the big game series that will release the line to the bouy. We guide for gators and love the Muzzy Gator Getter points. I would stay away from 600 pound line with trad gear. The 350 pound line will work best.

Did a lot of gator Hunting with a bow I shot a 55 Lund recurve with the AMs with the big float

x2 on the float.... You tie it your line to your bow and you will lose it. Muzzy gator point is excellent, and make sure the Trocar tip is good and sharp. The scales on their back are tough.

There is a conversion kit to make the normal reel into the big game reel with the float. Saves a bit of money
