The Bear Takedown Hunter is a Very nice bow that does not get much recognition. I had one, and traded it out, (already had another takedown I was shooting more), but in my opinion VERY under rated. Depending on what limb weight yours has and what weight you want, Samick Journey limbs fit nice. There are a few here on the wall that have them.

Their is the 76er Take-Down Hunter ( 1977 ) and then there is the Bear Hunter TD ( with bolt on limbs ) 1988 to 2001. And in 1997 their was the Fred Bear Take-Down Hunter with the latches like the Bear Kodiak Take-Down.

The 1977 was the only year Bear made a 76er as a take down Hunter. It has a much smaller sight window. I was wondering was it offered in anything other then black.

The 1977 Bear Catalog says it came in random dark colors.

Yes it's the first picture I posted. I only posted pictures of the other two to show the differences between them because they have similar names.

Frisky has talked about his a few times. They are handy for just about anything. The limbs just slip out of the riser and you can carry the who shebang in a back quiver or day pack. Handy bow to have for those days when you want to travel light.

It's funny how things change.Bear Collecting has changed due to ebay- pawn shop finds, yardsales etc.Its easy for almost everyone to get a value.76ers were regarded as $25-50 bows 15 years ago but in the last year I've seen some go ridiculously high(imo).

I have a Bear TD Hunter from the 90s in #55. I cant begin to pull that weight anymore so I put Sage limbs on, they fit perfectly! This picture shows the riser with #40 Sage limbs. This shoots very nicely but I dont care for the grip so I dont shoot it much.

The 76ers came in a few different models. If I remember correctly there was the Deluxe, the Custom, the Take-down, and the Take-Down Hunter. I never owned one. Maybe some of the members who have will post. I'm curious how they shot.

The 1977 title of this thread caught my eye. Here is one of 3 ever made and one of them has been stolen and never recovered. Made by Brandon Stahl of Rose Oak. I'm letting it go as I don't use it.
