There’s always a ton of great info here. Most times the archives will answer your questions before you’d need to start a new post. I agree, a terrific resource!

The Browning Wasp is one great, 56” recurve. At full draw it look’s like a mongolian bow. It’s a fast shooter, it’s shelf is cut past center, and if you can find one, there’s a very cool bow quiver that utilizes the bushings that come on the Wasp, depending on the year. Good recurve purchase!

This one is somewhat a beast. 65#@28’ . Could prove to be a challenge for this 72 year old guy. Glad I looked up the info. I thought those bushings were added by a previous owner. I was going to remove and plug holes but if it’s orginal I going to leave them. Maybe try and locate the quiver. Yes I can draw it back, shooting 50-75 arrows will be my challenge. Actually I am looking forward to it.

I had an 80# Wasp, still kicking myself for selling it. They’re really a sleeper looking recurve, regardless of the draw weight. If you can find one, Browning also sold a hunting set with the Wasp, side quiver, tab, target, 12 arrows, six field points, six broadheads with a stick of feriltite. I had one and sold it, D’oh!

The quiver adapter back then fit the Wing 6 arrow bow quiver with the thumb screw attachments.

I spent sometime today searching for a picture of the quiver mounted to the bow. The internet hasn’t produced one yet. Anyway looks like I have enough different sizes of arrows to try.

It is similar to the Wing quiver. The Wasp is a bow that punches way above its weight and is very stable, despite being 56". It has a straight limb design, much like the Howatt Sabre.

M-60 Gunner,

Check out my Hoyt Pro Medalist Hunter thread from 4-19-18. There is a photo there of a Wing Six Arrow bow quiver I modified to fit on the Hoyt.

Thank you, I will check out the thread. These days I use the 3Rivers calculator to get me a ball park idea on spine, weight etc. for the shafts I want to use. In this case Aluminum. Two sizes came up almost deadnuts on first try, 2216 and 2020. I have the latter but no 2216’s. But if what you folks are saying about the bow I may try long 2219’s or 2315’s which I have an abundance of the later. Think I will get a new string as well, this ones good but a new string makes you feel better.

"You" must be a beast to shoot 65lb bow at 72 yrs old.

Don’t know about being a “beast” but been darn lucky so far. I am no “Arnold” but maybe those hours after work at the gym waiting for traffic to die down helped? I know it an’it from clean livin!! I also planned on the day when I can’t pull the weight. Got a set of 45# limbs for my TD.

If you want the ultimate Browning Wasp, find one of these rests. All but one one the Wasps I’ve owned had this rest. It makes a noticeable difference.

I saw that rest on a search for pics of the quiver. From what I gather it was made by Saunders. It would be cool to find one but their probably worth more to collectors.

They’re around, but I haven’t looked for them in a while.

Shot the little beast this AM. My shoulders survived about 60 shots before the 100*+ heat did me in. Like everyone has said, fast and accurate. A real sleeper. I am definitely going to keep this bow handy for this coming year. Then it’s going back up for the St. Jude’s auction over on the gang. I am going to try and locate one of those orginal Saunders rests as well.
