Hi,

I just picked up an old Bear Super Kodiak. Who could I contact to restore it?

I'm liking the idea of shooting these older Bow's instead of spending 1K plus for a new custom build. Guess I may have almost that much in the Super Kodiak if I do get it restored. Oh well.

Thanks,

Wap

Yes Rich Lopez, his work is worth the wait.

If you would like it this year though, maybe try 2Bears who posts here. Ken does exemplary work on bows, and I'm sure there are others. Yes, Rich Lopez does top notch work...which is why he is busy for such a long time.

I guess I should have asked 2Bears if he was willing to do it though. ;)

If you have any spare time it could be very rewarding to do it yourself. There are lots of threads here with good information and lots of folks willing to help with advice.

Wapitidung;

Pictures of your bow? Just how much work is needed? Holes, glass splinters, stress cracks, tip overlays gone?

It really is not hard to refinish. Sometimes it can be as simple as light sanding the original finish and spray new finish.

I also do my own, but I'm not as good as a lot of these folks are. It can be very rewarding just to do it yourself, even if it's not perfect.

John Rafferty does really nice work. I had a bow he had redone and offered on the St. Jude auction on TG.

John Rafferty refinished my 75 SK and an excellent job. It took about 5 months to do the refinish. It was worth the wait. Mike in Ohio

I second Phil’s comment. It’s very rewarding to bring these old bows back to life. Take your time and don’t rush it. Here’s a Ben Pearson Colt I just did recently.
