Coworker friend has a LEFT handed 1953 Bear Grizzly am told black in color, although I haven't seen it to know condition... Said it was his father's, and told him I'd inquire about it on this site... hanks for any info...

I doubt it's a 1953 but instead just has the 1953 patent stamped on it...which they all had for 20 years.
Without a pic, it's impossible to give you any worthwhile information on the bow.
