Seems the older I get the more I realize that little unanticipated things in live turn out to the big problems. Bowhunting has it's own variety. From he small unseen twig in an arrows flight path to that forgotten tree step on that special day during the rut, and countless more THINGS. Any body out there struggle with this? Steve

Just getting up off the ground getting to be a chore for me. I don't climb trees anymore to hang stands and last year quit hunting out of my ladder stands. I get winded just putting on my boots.lol

The older I get the more I realize little things are just that. No need to dwell on them until they become big things. I use to fret the small stuff now I just try to trust that they will work themselves out .

I find myself being less tolerant to others in the woods, it’s crazy I’m hunting public land and they have as much right there as I do, but I’ve had guys set up within 50 yards of me more than once, I just move and let them have the spot. I can’t hump the hills like I could years ago and find myself forced to hunt the easier access areas.

Opposite for me.
Got more patience now and more knowledge and courage to just make something work out. Goes for camping, fishing, shooting my bows, etc. Ask for more help everyday too, which makes things work better than in the past. Only time I had more patience was in the Navy when we all had to wear uniforms with ugly haircuts.

I wouldn't be safe in tree stands so I quit them a couple decades ago. I can fall down from a kneeling position. ) Anyway, the woods never gives me issues nowadays; I just walk and stand till I get enough of it and head back to the truck. I still can get up the mountain, just not as fast, and the knees and hips are still working okay. I'm not on any prescription medicine but take some NSAIDs now and agin for achy 'jernts.
The ticks and I have some run-ins but they don't keep me out of the woods. I'm 72 and 1/2 as my kids would tell me, so I feel pretty fortunate to still go out there and misbehave. You have to work with what you have.

At 70 and a half i still climb ladder tree stands, hate ticks.Shoot everyday my body will let me.More patient than ever, will take in all the little things like chip monks ,squirrels, fox, porcupines, birds, crows flying overhead, and i do not worry about the kill anymore.Just thank God i can still do what i can do at my age.Life is all about compromise even with your marriage.Just keep hanging in there, and do what you can do and still enjoy. To many things that we take for granted when young are looked at in a much different way once we grow old.Good shooting and good hunting.

Some good points "Cat".
Some folks, like my wife, have small victories with just getting around. Patience comes hard sometimes.

Ok I'll add to this, I can't stand bending over to pick something up. I get mad at myself if I drop something because I have to pick it up. Knees and back discomfort is what I get. And yes, getting out of bed hurts too. Only 59 and work out regularly but still aches and pains, stiffness. My father-in-law repeats "Getting old ain't for sissys". Aint that the truth. But still have the mind set of a 20 year old and I ain't wipped yet. Still humping up them big hills in hopes of getting that big buck.
