Looking forward to using this vintage bakers tent I found on Craigslist
Set it up in the back yard to try it out Weighs 25 lb so lighter than most canvas tents and I could use it on BWCA

spent many a night in a Baker as a scout
ours did not have the netting
spent 2 -4ยบ nights in one
had to get out and knock the falling snow off to keep it from collapsing
with a good sleeping bag we faired well

Great find! I love mine and with the awning you can have a small cook fire in foul weather. A great comfortable design.

People overlook Craigslist for stuff - look up tents, or canoes, or 'recurve' and see what pops up.
Locally there's a Howatt Hi-Speed 'Ne Plus Ultra' for $50...
(And a huge Cabelas Alagnak tent (sp?) with stove for $975.)

Buy a gallon of Canvak and waterproof it. Don't wait until you wake up with rain coming in.

Long ago, a scout troop put four bakers tents together to make a pod.
My scout troop had a few bakers and a bunch of small canvas pup tents. One of the leaders had an umbrella tent, and they were popular for the older folks. Sure like those baker tests and they remind me of those Adirondack shelters with their open fronts.

I ordered som iosso water repellant as Davis tent suggested it as a good one if people want to use a product. They said it still retains some breathability . I slept in it last night. Roomy enough to sleep either direction We had a rain this morning and it did drip in one spot on the ceiling

Nice tent there Gaur! Next time you're in Ely stop and get some of Stegar's waterproofing they use for Mukluks...I use it, works great! Also, Don Kevilus at 4-dog stoves in St. Francis sells everthing you need for a stove set-up if you're ever in that neck of the woods...stove jacks, pipe, etc..
Also, do my eyes deceive or is that a bow-fishing setup you have there leaning against the folding chair?
