After shooting my Galaxy Ember for a while and putting on a set of Limbsations a while back, hunting season is coming and I've decided its time for a new look. I'm sending it off to R A Hoffler in Wisconsin to get the attached pattern applied, I figure it'll be a good all around and doesn't have pictures of limbs and leaves. Hoffler has a wide selection of patterns, prices are reasonable and they say their turn around is about a week. We'll see how it goes.

RA Hoffer has did numerous limbs for me and he did a whole bow. Randy is a good guy and does a good job. And has reasonable price also. Here is a picture of my one Bear Hunter TD that he camoed the whole bow.

Wow, that looks awesome guys. I have thought about getting one of those galaxy 3 piece longbows, just to have a beater around. I had imagined taking it on over night kayaking trips down the eleven point. Mark twain national forest is on both sides for 20 miles and is pretty remote. Just worried about the finger pinch. It's only 60", and I'm used to 70" and 68", 66" being my normal minimum. My draw isn't excessive, just 28.5" just feel I can't come of the string well on short bows. But for the price it's not too much of a gamble.

Hey I have a few questions for those of you who have had this done. Did you have to pre-strip or otherwise finish your Bow prior to dipping? And have you applied any type of clear cover coat to the Bow after dipping?

Shawn, I bought it mainly just to see what everybody was talking about. My main bow is a Schafer T/D recurve but to be honest I haven't been shooting it that much lately as I have been enjoying the cheap T/D LB. It is surprisingly quick and a lot of fun. I put a good string on it at a length that would minimize twists, and I put a Shur-Grip on it. You should be fine at 28.5" draw.

Thanks David. I might as well order one. I work at a sporting goods store and get them at cost. So it's an even better deal. For future reference, where do i find the fella u have dipping yours. I think it's an awesome idea, and would like to see some options. Think it would look pretty awesome. Make sure to post some pictures when u get yours back. Loved the camo that bear hunter looks great, and I really like the snake skin stuff too.

RA Hoffer has a whole lot of patterns to choose from. Also if a pattern you like is not on his website he may be able to order it for you.

Frank, That looks a lot better than your normal camo, what ever you do don't lay the bow down and walk too far away....Ha!Ha!

Ron, Yep I might lose it because of the camo job. "lol"

RA Hoffer does incredible work at a very fair price. He recently finished my Hoyt"Super" Buffalo with F7 limbs and quiver in a snake skin pattern. Very fast turnaround time is also a big plus. Awesome work!

Off to the UPS Store to ship mine out now :)

David, good luck on the dip. Nice pattern choice. I had a set dipped in that patter last year by a local guy. He kept them for 3 months, did a crap job. After fixing the finish the pattern looked great, but i was so disgusted by the service i sold the limbs just to get the sour taste out of my mouth. Hind sight is always 20/20, wish i had those limbs back now, they looked great after i touched them up. Plus being a veteran, i was kinda prideful of the pattern. R.a.hoffer is who ill use for now on, i have 2 sets of limbs awaiting me to get off my butt and send him. I think youll be thrilled from what ive seen of rahoffers work.

I had him do a magnesium Bear TD riser for me a couple years ago. He did a great job-I thought it turned out awesome! Before I sent my riser to him I cleaned off all the old paint. It was in pretty rough shape cosmetically when I bought it off the big auction site. I'm not sure if it was necessary to take it down to bare metal, but with the chips and diy paint jobs the riser had seen, I figured it wouldn't hurt. Really turned out great. Great price and fast turn-around.

It's back, After talking to Randy and swapping emails and pictures we went with this, which is Optifade Subalpine. It's all put bck together and I have wrestled the Shur-Grip for the last time for a while. It's time to go shoot.

From: Shawn Rackley
Date: 18-Jul-18

Wow!!!!! That looks really awesome. Where I work is a Sitka retailer. I really like the sub alpine and timber. I didn't see any optifade camo on ole boy's web page. So never really thought about it. But it looks great.

Nice... You better get some florescent orange string silencers or you may lose that rascal :)

Cool camo. I like the way it looks.

From: David McLendon

Shawn, Randy has several Optifade patterns, contact him for specifics.

Ben, my fletching and wraps are pretty bright, but without the quiver, yea you could probably lose it.
