Normally this time of year I'm chasing hogs. We have some dry summers and the water holes get scarce and I know where a couple spots that hold water year around and the pigs love them. unfortunately running two small businesses and moving into a new house has left me with no hunting time and I'm in need of a hog kill story. Who has some good hog pics and stories.

Where is Kingwouldbe and Robert Carter? Use to get some good stuff from those two. Sawtooth (original) has some impressive shots. Who else? What you shooting them with?

I wish I had some fresh pictures and a recent story! Actually I just got back from a trip to our Atlantic Coast- An amazing chunk of public land! It was hot as blazes but a ton of fun anyway. David Waldrop was the first to arrow a pig- I mean right out of the gate!! I don't think we were in the woods for a full hour before he had poked one- a nice boar. Then a couple of our buddies, a father and son team from North GA- both arrowed a decent boar each. I even shot a decent sized red-and-black spotted boar. I did not find mine. As I slipped through the huge longleaf pines and shallow swampwater I hit patch of high ground that was covered in wet pine straw from a recent downpour. The conditions were perfect for stalking and the wind was even cooperating for a change. I spotted the pig and scooted behind a big pine tree to conceal myself as I looked for other porkers. I didn't see any so I went into tiptoe mode and began my approach to close the distance to the pig. It was almost TOO easy, really, but I don't look gift horses in the mouth. - The wet straw, the recently rooted up dirt, and the constant wind were all on my side this time. I drew my X200 and sent a fir shaft toward the pig at an amazing distance of only 7 yards. My arrow hit the off side shoulder and stopped, but not before the pig let out a loud "YEEEEK" and left like he was shot from a cannon. I observed his direction of travel- and then he disappeared behind a stand of sweetgum trees and then I heard him hit water- and slosh, and slosh, but I never heard him busting palmettos on the far side. Myself and buddy, Chris, followed a generous bloodtrail to the swamp and then we went to the other side to pick it up where the pig hit land- but it wasn't there. No tracks, no muddy palmettos, nothing. Based on what I heard, and the fact that the pig bled great all the way to the water, but not beyond, leads me to believe that he might've sunk. I've never had that happen before, and I'm not sure that it's even possible, but given the situation, that's all I can come up with. Well, I didn't mean for that to turn into a story, but I guess it did- sorry.

I'm in California. I got that pig hunting bug real bad. I'm going over maps, forums, videos and anything else I can find to narrow my search to the best opportunity for public land pig hunting. Road kill is the closest I've seen this year. Pigs may not be able to distinguish public from private but they know the menu is better on private as is hunter pressure or lack thereof.

Got this one a few weeks ago. Was waiting on the big sows but the wind was wrong. It was late enough before I decided on this one that I had to improvise. Turned my cell phone flashlight on and proped it up on my snuff can for enough light to see. I sometimes stick a lighted nock in my target and shoot at it well after dark. So imagined that right in the sweet spot. If a lighted nock was really there, it would have been busted to pieces!
