I just bought a used black widow psa. 36# @ 28”. I’ve been shooting beman centershot 600s with 125 GE tips and Easton trads 500 with 200 grain tips. Both arrows seem to fly well to me.

I draw 30.5 inches. I keep all my arrows full length. Am I crazy to think 500s will work? I’ve got a 40# bodnik mowhawk longbow I’m hoping to shoot the same arrows out of.

And Shawn if you see this I did try shooting pool noodles with bowling balls as tips and they didn’t fly too well:)

500 spine full length, 200 grains up front at your draw out of a Widow that is cut past center, sounds about right to me. As for the LB, maybe if it is center cut. Using a smaller diameter shaft can help you shoot a heavier spine as well. At least what I have read here. Seems crazy but I have had a simular experience that cost me 3 doz arrows only to find out my 500 spine are fine.

I have a bow 50 pounds at 29 and I can shoot .620 and .390's out of it. You just have to know tuning.

www.acsbows.com/bowtuning.html click on 'download printable version', it has the best broadhead tuning it the end.

Thanks bowmania. I’ve had that link downloaded on my smartphone since I first saw you posted it. I’m just trying to figure out for myself if I need the 600s. I don’t shoot any bows lighter than the black widow.

Full length and heavy points might be fine. >>>----> Ken

My psax is 46@28. My draw is a touch over 29. I shoot a 30.5inch 2117 with 145 up front. Just for reference. They seem to shoot alittle anything

Widows are cut deeper and generally more forgiving of spine. I can tell you that i dont like that much weight (200 grs) up front on my 36# longbow. I prefer to stay closer to 10 gpp as i found heavier arrows 13+ gpp had quite a steep trajectory after 20 couple yards.

Just depends what youre wanting to do with it. .600s may give you a wider range in tuning.

Well most .600 are 30"s full length not sure on the centershots. A .600 spine 31"s with 200-225 should fly fine. A full length 32 maybe 33" .500 spine even with 225 I would think is stuff but Widows are cut so far past center you can get a telephone pole to bareshaft well!! Shawn
