Anyone mount ribtecs on broadhead adaptors to shoot them as a screw in head or are they only good for wood arrows?

It seems like all that empty slots in the ferrule would create drag and whistle

I've used them on adapters, worked like any other head...

They work just fine. They have a tapered ferrule just like all other broadheads. Didn't notice any drag or whistle, and they shot right along with field points.

I took a nice buck with a 190 mounted on an adapter and screwed into a GT Trad. shaft...

I've used Ribbies on screw in broadhead adaptors successfully for many years. Once glued on and while hot I always spin them to make sure they're turning true. IMO, a very underrated broadhead.

I just got a pack of 190 and 125s I really like the looks of them, had a pair of the 190s that were a little crooked, is that normal? im sure i can straighten them out

but i want to give these a try :)

190 gr Ribtecs is the only broadhead my brother hunts with, of course, he only shoots tapered cedars weighing out around 700 gr. Personally, if you are going mount broadheads on adapters, I would recommend using glue-in broadhead adapters. I think that just makes a more durable arrow combination.

I have a couple dozen 190's and none are crooked. They fly good and sharpen nicely. Should mount up like any other broadhead.

I had a couple of slightly bent 190s. I spun one and it had terrific wobble. Straightened it with pliers until it spun true and check the rest, a few dozen, and found one or maybe two more and straightened them before mounting. That's the only two or so among many dozens of 125, 130, 145, 160, and 190s mounted up over the years. I just wish they were still being made.

I mount 190 grain Ribteks on 100 grain steel screw in adapters. In front of a 2216 out of a 63# recurve and I’ve taken a bunch of NC Deer with them.

Can't find but one picture... I do remember this spike though because he was on his hind legs sniffing a limb and he did a back flip when hit. He only went about 40 yards.

Oh I am going to try them for sure, something about them really catches my eye, they are a cool head.

I was planning on putting them on a 75 grain steel adaptor but im thinking now a long aluminum one would be a better fit

I have shot Ribteks for many years...even bought 10 dozen from Australia a few years back to make sure I had some for years to come. I love them...easy to mount, easy to shoot, tough as nails. no whistling or anything...and they dont seem to penetrate poorly either.

I have a bunch of 160s and even more of the 190s ...my fav head for past 20 years. I will be said when I lose my last one. Luckily there are other great heads out there...Grizzly is a favorite and I think the Tuffhead is worth a shot as well.

You’ll like the job the Ribteks do. Not sure I agree that they are particularly tough, I had one break in half on an off side shoulder, and bent a few, but they have all killed deer in the process. I’m not sure a broadhead has to last indefinitely to be worthwhile. I’ve put them through Deer shoulder blades so they are tough enough in my book.

I just ran one through the accu sharp and I am impressed, takes a fine edge in a hurry. much easier to sharpen than my deltas

Where in the world are you guys finding Ribs ?

The Ribtek underground! You can still order a few of the lighter weights direct from Australia. I picked up a 100 of 130 grain just to have some small game broad heads on hand, but good luck finding 160s and 190s. Every once in a while a few come up for sale. Many of us are hoping someone picks up Graham's (I think that was his name when I started buying direct from him) equipment and starts production again.

I bought mine from a bow shop in Australia that bought all of the Colonels remaining heads he created. He wont sell his jigs/presses though to anyone apparently. Glad I got mine when I did... Myself and Kelly Peterson did a good size order few years ago and split them up. :)

I also got with a guy on here a few years ago and picked up about 50 of the 190s... great heads for sure.

What is the taper on the 125 grain?
