Got this at a yard sale today for one dollar! Its marked 48 lbs, says fifty four on it and i think says Yakima Washington but most of the writing is gone. Nanyone know what this is? Great shape, just gotta clean it!

If it says Yakima, Washington my guess is an early Damon Howatt. Get pictures of the side view profile, the limbs and the tips.

Yakima is also where Larry Hatfield lives.

Looks like an early Mamba by Howatt. Lance

Howatt, maybe a Mamba

From: Elbow

Yep. If you look at the lettering there is a “ba” visable, so may be early mamba. Great shape but im not into those. Probably trade it for a gun or maybe a 40 or so bear. This one appears to be 64” and is 48 pounds. Anyone wants it let me know on pm.

Great find

It is a model "54", made that year. The leather grip was hand skived with an obsidian knife Damon and Ted Donelson found in a dry lake bed in Oregon. Ted did the skiving and fitting to the grip. Is it a fairly long bow? It was made for shooting targets if I remember right. Good find. very rare.

Dang! Sounds more like a collector than a shooter, then?

Doesn't sound like something that should be refinished...

Wow Larry thanks for the info. Yes it does appear original and is 64 " or so i think. The grip is neat , leather and certainly original. That is some cool info. Now I am thinking it needs to go to someone who would appreciate it.

Great bow.

Enjoy.

It's a bow, so I would shoot it if it's in shootable condition. You can always hang it on the wall if it breaks. I would just clean it up and shoot it. Beautiful bow with history to show what it is.

I have a left handed Fifty Four Deluxe. 70" mid forties on the weight. Mine has a little magnetic flipper type rest on it. They are pretty rare. I've only seen a few.

If it wouldn’t be a travesty to clean it up some and shoot it, I’m still interested!

Great find! If I owned it, I'd shoot it. Nothing like loosing arrows from a piece of history.
