In July there's a shoot in Germany that myself, Pip Bickerstaffe and a few others from the UK will attend. Part of the weekend shooting schedule is a flight shoot.
I was at a flea market a couple of weeks ago and I saw in a suitcase about 50 Chinese shuttlecocks (for playing Badminton)made from white feathers. I bought the lot for £2. On getting them home and cutting off the crudely cut feathers, I was surprised to find they were all very very nice quality goose feathers ... perfect for my flight arrows. So, with a little trimming and a little reshaping they should do well together with the 18grain piles and 1/4 inch nocks on 90lb spined tonkin bamboo shafts

Nice.
Bamboo makes for a good arrow.

It's the smart archer that notices such things. Well done Mr. Phil.

Phil, Nice thinking. I hope that you have a blast in Germany. And of course photos are necessary. I want to see you and that longbow in action! Lance

... and they've ended up pretty much right where I wanted them to be ... 425grns. When I add the feathers and varnish I'm hoping for 450. Which will give me 5grns/lb from my 90lb bow
