Back up!!!

From: Jon Stewart
Date: 19-May-18

Used to go but it got real expensive. It cost dollars just to get on the grounds to shop. The home club uses this event as a club fundraiser. Good event but $$$.

From: JusPassin Compton's Traditional Bowhunters
Date: 19-May-18

Some of us reach a point in our lives where circumstances tell us No More. Still love to hunt which I can do around home very cheaply, but even 3d's cost me $30 for gas and fees. Just don't have it anymore, and no way to get it.

Wish those of you who can all the best.

From: rallison
Date: 19-May-18

JP...I also have reached the "fixed income" stage of life. My biggest issue with something like Comptons, is I go alone. Which can be a little pricey from Wisconsin...especially with gas nearing $3.00 a gallon again.

I love the shoot, and the camaraderie, but flying solo isn't so great.

From: Skeets
Date: 19-May-18

Ole Fred Kasch was walking from the parking lot alone when I first met him. I think he was about 87 at the time and drove there from Wisconsin by himself. Of course, he wasn't alone for long. I shot with him that day. And he was not alone with the people at Comptons. Neither would any of you be alone.

Compton Rendezvous is the most fun i have all year for only 25 bucks. I drive 3.5 hours but do have family near by in MI. I would not miss it and if you are thinking about going and can afford it you won't be dissappointed. Great Shoot!

From: Jon Stewart
Date: 20-May-18

Would do a price break down us. Park entry costs, per course shooting costs and camping costs? This would us know actual costs to attend.

From: Fritz
Date: 20-May-18

These prices are from last year Spectator fee 5.00. Gets you in the gate 4 day shooting pass $30.00. Non member $45.00. 3 day $25.00 Non member $40.00. Friday $15,00. Non member $20.00Saturday $15.00. Non member $20.00. One time camping fee of $25.00. And free firewood. Cheap entertainment. 4 coursesof unlimited shooting

From: Jack Hoyt Professional Bowhunters Society - Qualified Member Compton's Traditional Bowhunters
Date: 20-May-18

Unlimited shooting for 1 day is 15, unlimited shooting 3 days is 25. You can bring your own food and drinks, they sell for cheap at concession stand. Free chili anf hotdog diner on friday. The shooting cost gets you everything including seminars, night speakers, vendor areas and shooting. Lots of bows to test shoot on site.

Date: 20-May-18

Yes this events raises funds for Compton Traditional Bowhunters, But look at all they do with these funds. The youth Program that gets archery equipment in the hands of kids all over the country. Scholarship programs to help young one get a start on their adult life. Go check out all they do at. comptontraditionalbowhunters.com

Also volunteers are always needed at the kids shooting events. So you have a chance to give back to our sport and maybe help mentor a child to help insure our way of life will always be here.

The costs for the weekend are small in comparison to what you get.

From: The Whittler
Date: 20-May-18

It's a deal and a half. If I lived close enough I would be there in a heart beat. 4 days of stickbow shooting and talking what more could you ask for.

I bet most spend more then that on junk all year and still not have half as much fun. For what they do with money it's well worth it.

Good luck and try not to have too much fun :-).

From: stagetek Professional Bowhunters Society - Qualified Member Compton's Traditional Bowhunters
Date: 20-May-18

50/50 chance for me at this point. Trying to free up the time, but not looking good.

From: woody
Date: 20-May-18

$5 a day for spectator fee or to come in and shop, go to seminars, etc is cheap, cheap, cheap! The Rendezvous is probably the biggest bargain in the country as far as 3D gatherings go.

From: Let 'em fly
Date: 20-May-18

I’ll be there for the 3rd time! Always been a blast and love looking at bows everyone brings. Shot some nice ones and addd a few to the wish list each year. Not looking for anything specific this year, just shooting a lot and talking to people about making strings, self bows, arrows, etc.

Shoot straight y’all!!

From: Jon Stewart
Date: 20-May-18

Thanks for posting. $5.00 to get in and shop is fair. I Don't shoot much at these events but have picked some nice items at a fair price at the blanket sales.

From: elk nailer Compton's Traditional Bowhunters

Fire wood is split, trails are get some attention. 4 weeks.

From: Skeets

I think kids are free, too. But you then you might need extra cash for stuff you can buy! It's worth it though.

I'll be over by the Maine coast then, but I'll catch up to you and Dave at ETAR..Tracey.

This shoot is by far not the most expensive event that I go to each summer but it is well worth what it cost. I drive 8hr and stay just about the week but the time that Bub lets me help with the Kids program is worth the whole trip.

If you have not watched what gos on with the kids and youth you should it will make your day

Can't wait!! Doing the full Thursday- Sunday this year.

From: tagalong2
Date: 04-Jun-18

The last time I was there was two years ago. Due to overtime my son could not go until Sunday morning so we hit the road early and got there about 0930. Half of the vendors were already gone and most ere packing up. We have not been back. 200 miles each way for nothing was a real waste of money.

From: Fritz
Date: 04-Jun-18

Not surprised tagalong it is Father’s Day weekend and most people probably want to get back home to see family!!!!

From: Witherstick
Date: 04-Jun-18

The Compton Traditional Bowhunters Rendezvous is a great shoot. It doesn't seem to get the crowds that it once did, and it certainly would be nice if the courses would change every few years. But, the courses are at least fun and on some varying topography. Those attending are always of good nature and a pleasure to be around.

From: Jack Hoyt Professional Bowhunters Society - Qualified Member Compton's Traditional Bowhunters
Date: 04-Jun-18

Tagalong2, i was there 2 years ago and every year. At 9:30am all vendors were going strong, yes by lunch several may start to pack up but still open. Not sure why some choose a thread to promote the rendezvous as a place to say negative things about it. If you dont enjoy it dont come but dont say things that may stop other from coming. Compton puts on a great event and it is a must go shoot for me and hundreds of others. I come from over 3 hours away and totally worth the trip. Best experienced as a weekend not part of a day.

From: Fritz
Date: 05-Jun-18

Well said Jack Hoyt !!!

From: CAST IRON Compton's Traditional Bowhunters

Wife and I got home from Cloverdale earlier day,got a few things to do here at home before heading up to the Compton Rendezvous. Looking forward to another great traditional archery event. See you all at Compton!!!

From: Witherstick
Date: 10-Jun-18

For those of us who don't have to travel too far, it is fantastic that we can shoot Cloverdale one weekend and then visit the Compton Rendezvous the next. For us, Cloverdale is just over an hour away and Compton is a little over two hours away. We usually drive to them, shoot, and head on back home.

I know that there isn't electricity at each camp site. Does anyone haul a generator to run their air conditioner or fridge? I am thinking about taking mine for my trailer but don't want to annoy everyone around me by running a generator if im the only one that does it.

From: Mr.Griz Compton's Traditional Bowhunters
Date: 11-Jun-18

Warchild.....I would leave the generator home. If you run it in the daytime ok but after quiet time at night I thing ot would be a discourtious act to the rest of us. That goes for all generators. Nothing against thembut this is not the place...Unless you are alone in the woods.

From: Jon Stewart
Date: 11-Jun-18

Theolithic. I have only seen knappers at Compton one time. That is when Mike Cook and I set up as a vendor and that was a few storms ago.

From: moosehunter Compton's Traditional Bowhunters
Date: 11-Jun-18

I used my “quiet “ generator when I was there with my trailer on several different years. They are allowed and you won’t be the only one. It gets hot, so you’ll be glad you have it.

From: elk nailer Compton's Traditional Bowhunters
Date: 12-Jun-18

Remember, No dogs on the courses!

From: warchild Professional Bowhunters Society - Associate Member Compton's Traditional Bowhunters
Date: 12-Jun-18

Of course I wouldn't run it during the night time hours. I wouldn't do that, only want it to keep the trailer cool during the day. I'll be bringing it then. Thanks for opinions.

Date: 12-Jun-18

What are the rules for selling a couple used bows and other traditional archery items? If I can get away I’d like to get rid of a few things. Can you bring a blanket and throw stuff down or is there a vender fee?
