Sorry, pics of bows are tough. This thing shoots. 52# at 30”. 70” ntn. Won second in a tournament this weekend with it. Only seven others in selfbow class but they were all shooting some pretty known bowyers bows. That made my weekend.

For the record, not saying my bow is anywhere near the design and performance of any of those well known bowyers. It ain’t, at all. Just glad it could shoot good.

Great looking bow. Congrats on the tournament!! Well done on both accounts. Making and shooting selfbows is about as good as it gets in my eyes.

Ditto on the growth rings, Clint.
Ken, super nice bow, it got you second place, but I'm sure a lot of that was you, but you know the bow is capable of any skill you have. I will take that bow over any Blacktail or Black Widow.

Actually finished this thing a while back. Just figured out posting pictures here though. Been doing this a few years and I can tell you, there’s really nothing I’d rather do than grab my drawknife and get after it. Too scared to use power tools as of yet. I only use a drawknife, rasp, and scrapers now. Sandpaper’s and files for finishing of course. Thanks for the compliments! I hope to post another one soon.

Those skins look sharp! what did you use for glue and how hard is it to keep them smooth?

The skins were the easiest part honestly. Titebond 3 wood glue. You just have to make sure you put a coat of thinned glue on first. Let that dry then I go with full glue paint brushed on. They stay smooth after you smooth them out and contract as they dry. Just don’t string it or tru oil for a couple weeks because the bow sucked all that moisture in.

Looks like a nice bow. Glad you got the bug. I like hand tools to. Especially for osage. Draw knife, farrier rasp and scrapper work really good on Osage. They are actually pretty efficient at removing wood and less likely to remove wood that should be a bow. Nothing against power tools. I use them to. Bjrogg
