Good morning friends. I don't normally like to ask for anything, but I would like to now. Esp. for my wife, who is overwhelmed right now, losing her golden retriever Jake to cancer. Its only a matter of weeks probably, as he has a large inoperable tumor growing on his muzzle. Its hideous, and its killing her. He has been with her for 14 years and basically saved her life in the beginning when she got him while going through real hardships. And now, I have been diagnosed with tonsil cancer and thyroid nodules, possible cancer too. So I am going under the knife Thursday to remove tonsils and assoc. lymph glands in my neck. Dr. says I am not going to 'die from it', but its still kinda scary. You just never know what can come up. We do everything we can to stay healthy, but sometimes there are other forces at work beyond our control. I am just grateful I've had good health all these years, and cannot complain one iota about anything. So if you can please just breath a prayer up to God for my wife to be reassured and comforted, and know she is loved by God and all will be okay in the long run, that would really be a blessing to me. Thank you all very much. I know your prayers help, and we appreciate them. I have an appt. Wed. to go over all the tests done so far, and the procedure the next day. And follow-up strategies. I am not in any real pain, just a bit of a sore area back of the throat, but to look at that tonsil is like a miniature version of what's on Jake's mouth, and it is downright disconcerting, so I want that thing gone. I am just thankful I could see it in the first place and know something was wrong early on, because it never really hurt before it started bleeding. If it had been internal, I may never have known. I thank you all for your prayers on behalf of my wife, dog and me. Nope, never used tobacco products, except for rare occasions when I had a cig with a beer way back in the 70s or 80s. Never liked it, and now I can't stand the smell at all. Just in the genes I guess. Dad passed from pancreatic back in '94, God bless his soul, it took him quick, 5 mos.

Thank you all so much! This is very comforting to read, and to know that it does help. The coming together of the family of Christ, the Church itself, in times of need for others you don't even know face to face is very reassuring. It will all be okay, but right now its very tough on Pam. The dog is actually doing remarkably well despite that growth on his mug. His appetite is better than ever because we are giving him special additives to his food that he loves. He is eating and drinking water just fine, having no trouble going out to do his duty, and is happy and playful still. But he is bothered by the growth and likes to rub in in the snow. He acts like he has a clothespin on his lip or something and tries to rub it off. It does not seem to hurt him at all. You can touch it, rub lotion on it and he,doesn't,even flinch. It is hard and does not seem to hurt him,at all. The vet said when he goes off feed, it will be time. Until then comfort him, pet him, give him love. We are taking his direction, and will not drag out any suffering he will eventually experience. So far he is not in pain. The last thing Pam will allow is that boy to suffer, she just cares too much. So we go,with vets advice. As for me, it will be my responsibility to be the rock and tough out any discomfort I have so I can take care of her when her emotions run high. Take care and you all be well. Thanks for the prayers. I am going for surgery Thursday. Looking forward to a week from then, when it will be healing again. Cal

Again, thank you all. I'm feeling confident of a permenant halt of the progress of this growth come Thursday. Got a good surgeon. Tomorrow I go see him to go over all the film and scans, etc. I feel blessed every day to have such a good life with my wife and pups, and heartfelt backing from you all who don't even know us. Jake is happy today, and eating well, but needs us more than ever. His cndition is slowly worsening. I thank you, and God Bless you. Cal and Pam, Jake and Trapper.

I thank you all very kindly! Going under at 1040 hrs tomorrow, for approx 1 hr surgery. Tonsil, lymph nodes, and possibly thyroid going bye bye. Testing the lymphs to see if radiation is necessary.
