While some folks might claim I'm over-bowed shooting this way?...I would state I'm only over-bowed if a tourney style of form and execution is dictated as I can not preform such proficiently with bows much over 40#s DW...yet I shoot bows over 40#s and do so quite well...most times.
I shoot these >40# bows in a very different mannor where a millisecond would be a long hold at anchor...yet I hit anchor.
I draw in a very slow yet well controlled fashion much like one might do if wary game were present so as not to spook them with any abrupt movement as like a sloth my bow is raised as my string is tensioned and drawn.
While the lions share of my focus is on that spot?...during "That Last Inch" a small amount of focus is placed on observing the direction of my arrow shafts rearward movement (out of my peripheral/secondary vision) to insure that the direction of my arrow movement is properly aligned with the intended spot as an arrow drawn straight back?...is an arrow shot straight forward and that last inch ends when I feel my body has hit proper alignment with my bow, arrow and intended spot and then it's loose time and?...
Paying attention too "That Last Inch" sure does seem to work well for me.
Good morning Folks...Hope you enjoyed, Bill. :)

Good thoughts, thanks. Last things, getting lined up and the loose, if you've got that right you can deal with all the other details at your leisure.

Nice job. I'm glad you found your archery shooting niche, it is satisfying when it all comes together. For me it is time. My shot is made or blown in what happens in the last fractions of a second. It involves my release, follow through, and bow arm.
Boo on the draw weight police, and aren't you due for a new bow?

I've seen you post very impressive groups, so I'd say it's as good a method as any. You understand every step of the process and that is exceptional.

That "last inch" is what give me trouble. I typically shoot a string follow bow @ 26" and whenever I try to get the full chest expansion my arrows nock left ( I shoot right handed). In fact, some of my best groups cluster upper left of the bulls eye. Too intense? But when I relax my draw, possibly pulling short, I hit the center no problem. I don't consider myself over bowed in any way. Do I need to go to lighter draw weight bow to reach the "true" 26" anchor point? Or is this a release problem where my bow arm kicks out momentarily on the release?? Thanks!

trad47. I'd look more toward your release than your bow arm, though they often move in unison. It may be that last bit of expansion actually changes the orientation of the arrow to your anchor point/eye, i.e. you may pull the arrow ever so slightly to the left before you release. Just as likely, though, that extra expansion can also lead to plucking, which will throw the arrow left for a right handed shooter. Good back tension that last inch should contribute to a cleaner release and straighter arrow flight, but we don't always achieve it.

There is such a thing as exaggerating expansion, just like people exaggerate the whole "2nd anchor" thing.
Drawing relaxed doesn't mean you haven't achieved full expansion, but it does likely mean you havent over expanded.

Is it possible you are trying to stretch a true 25 or 25 1/2" draw to 26" Overdrawing can cause problems too. Just a thought. I hope you get it figured out. >>>----> Ken

Here's a very important part of what I posted in the O.P.
"...when I FEEL my body has hit proper alignment with my bow..."
micro managing what began and was intended to be an intuitive shot execution is like telling an artist to stay inside the lines and paint by numbers.
Consciously thinking about such things as drawing short or over-expansion while attempting to execute an intuitive shot completely destroys any level of muscle memory one may have ingrained cause now?...instead of just doing what it is you worked so hard for?...you're back too...
"Thinking About It"
"Proper Alignment": is something that's very easy to recognize once you learn and recognize what it is you're feeling for where skeletal alignment has greatly reduced the load that was "all on your muscles" up until that point.
And once you consciously learn when your physically there?...your body will tell you when you are...and consistency will come through repetition.

trad47: Glad to hear I could help someone! :)
Intuitive Execution (or "Instinctive" as some call it) is something many of us know but struggle when it comes to putting it into words as it's no easy task to...
"Describe & Convey A Feeling"
let alone teach it to anyone else but I knew I may be able to help someone by sharing the thought that helped me the other evening...

Me too, "where skeletal alignment has greatly reduced the load". This is an unmistakable feeling.
I wish I could eliminate the tiny variables that keep me from hitting it every time.
