Went for a walk/scouting trip today in Bald Eagle State Forest. Ended up walking 6 miles all together. Wanted to check out a ridge top for next season.

No idea on the scarecrow Craig it was about 10yds from the stand. It is only about maybe two foot tall. Was crazy to to find it. I did see a deer up on top didn’t hold still long enough for me to get a picture.

Nice walk in the woods. That is pretty odd to find a doll/scarecrow. I've come upon rocks piled on top of each others. Usually near a campsite.

Maybe the scare crow was to get the deer's attention to be able to draw on it........who knows.

I have discovered this site and found some history on Bill Folberth bows, arrows and archery products. I am 86 yrs old and I worked in Bill Folberths archery shop in 1944 when I was 12 years old. I have many memories and stories about Mr Folberth. He was a wonderful and humble man and taught me many things. I started shooting with a small recurve and later that year we made a bigger recurve 28 # Bill mentored me and taught me how to be a great archer. He was very happy with my progress and in 1944 winter I came in 4th in a state competition in Archery Golf competing with kids 16 and under. I was the only 12 yr old in the top 5. I won many plaques in Cleveland competitions which were made by Folberth Archery. Plaques with laminated wood arrow points glued to a beautiful piece of wood. He was very proud of me and would show me off at the Cleveland Sportsman Show by having me shoot arrows at moving balloons on a conveyor in front of straw bales. Of course he designed and made the moving targets. I remember well the smile of pride when I could out shoot most of the men in both accuracy and speed. Unfortunately I became very Il May of 1945 with Reumatic Fever and was bediridden for three months and no physical activities for a year. I tried to shoot a year and a half later and lost my skill, became discouraged and never tried again. The last time I saw Mr Folberth was when I was discharged from the U.S. Air Force in 1955 and he he presented me with the most beautiful recurve bow that I have ever seen. I know that he was hoping I would re-kindle my love for Archery. Unfortunately it didn’t happen and my life has been consumed with Aviation. Iv’e done most everything in airplanes and have been teaching students for 51 yrs straight (still teaching). Will be glad to tell about Bill Folberth if anyone is interested. Ed Shafer
