Mine are half-fast.

Yep! Those gotta be mighty fast. ;~) LOL mg

Now Byron, how do you figure that??

From: The Whittler
Date: 15-Mar-18

You can tell they are fast because those feathers are full flu-flus and at warp speed they burned themselves down.

Great looking now don't loose them.

Explain please

They look like they’re sitting still to me.

They aren't fast right this second...... but they WILL be once the turbulators are installed. I thought everybody knew that.

From: Iwander

Do you build them fast or shoot them fast? Either way, I guess fast is always swell.

From: Knifeguy

As the saying in the Hot Rod world goes; "They look fast, sitting still". Nice job BTW, very attractive arrows. Lance

Funny thread. Every time some junk truck comes by the house with half an exhaust wired on, I always say the same thing, "Man, that must be one fast truck!".

Nice looking sticks. I guess if someone wants fast shoot carbons. They scream out of a bow including self bows and long bows.

The fastest arrows are stained dark, with a black nock and natural feathers. By the time our eye picks them up they impact, we perceive them as fast, works every time :)

Did I miss the post where it says that turbulators enhance velocity??

I think they can do so by making smaller fletchings more effective, but not sure how that’s possible without increasing drag at the same time, in which I’d think that the best case is that you’d get a little less drag (but still enough to do the job) from a feather one size down....

But those don’t appear to be suffering any shortage of feather.

OTOH.... they sure look like it’d be fun to see ‘em arcing into the target from way on out there.....

Nice looking arrows, may I make a suggestion! Taper the leading edge of the Quill into the shaft and place a drop of glue at that point.

Bob's words, as always, are wise.

Are they faster than the Road Runner ? All kidding aside nice looking arrows Byron.

Wile E. inspired idea...now if you sanded the nocks to where they were easily removed, drilled a holes between the "ears", filled the arrows with black powder, inserted a fuse just long enough to get that sucker drawn and released..even Elon Musk would have to be iMpressed.

Disclaimer: DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME!

Serious question. Do you like the Pope and Young cut? Do you see any advantages? I had that chopper and just didn't care for that little cut in front. I regret not having tested and compared to other fletches. I modified the cutter to taper the feather into the quil for a typical traditional cut.Thanks.>>>----> Ken

Bob, How much should I taper?

Ken, I like the P&Y cut, I use a chopper from Herbs Archery.

Just reread Pope's "Hunting with the Bow and Arrow." According to what he said there, Pope had a feather shape similar to yours. Young used a parabolic shape. So I wonder how somebody came up with the label "Pope and Young," for one shape...

Pope's feather shape btw, was a straight line on top.

Neuse: Just blend the quill into the shaft so there is no step, then add a drop of glue.

With the bright colors, they should look fast when shot since they will be easy to trace in flight. Like bright colored arrows too.

What Bob said. I actually mash the leading edge of mine down with a little piece of brass rod I have left over from something. Sure does do away with feathers lifting from the front.

Nice looking arrows.

What's fast about them.....the MOPAR colors? :)
