I hear often target panic symptoms where one can’t achieve full draw resulting in snap-shooting, shooting on the pass through etc. I have something that I have been dealing with and it seems to me to be a form of TP but I have not seen many comment on this. I have no problem reaching full draw. I lock into my anchor and engage my back to pull through the shot. Here is where it goes south. For what ever reason while pulling I struggle to release the string. I sometimes end up holding 7-10 seconds before I am able to “force” my release. It is not a sub conscious release. I have to mentally tell my hand to release. Anyone else struggle with this? If so any mental or physical training exercises out there that I could try? Curious for the responses.

That is TP. Had a lady in our seminar with that symptom. Joel actually told her it was the easiest to deal with.

Definitely is TP. I'm been struggling to control it for ages. Nowadays, most times, I win. Sometimes it does.

Something I've struggled with sometimes, although I wasn't stuck for 7 seconds lol
I just had no trigger for the release so I ended up consciously opening my fingers, this works to a point but goes south when the pressure is turned on.
I taught myself to trigger the release with expansion, this has worked well and very little cognitive input required and pretty consistent and smooth, even when the pressure is turned on.
Problem I have these days is Trigger finger, gets painful in cold weather and feeling like I'm opening my fingers in a jar of treacle, I'm glad all the important tourneys are in the Summer months lol

Try some blank bale before you begin to shoot.

Yes, I have always had this problem to some degree. It got so bad at one time, I would start to fall over and that would force me to release or fall to the ground. Almost like my mind would think, if you don't release the arrow you won't miss. I have no answers as how to overcome it.

Joel is the man for TP. It might help to blank bale. No target no panic and let down more often than you release. You have to take charge. >>>---> Ken

So sounds as if I need some form of trigger to release. I hate the idea of a clicker. I have seen the grip seers that Joel uses but have not seen much about how to use it mentally. I get the putting pressure on it and when it snaps do you release the string? Seems like you would still need to tell yourself to release, no?

Clickers help a lot with those who can't reach full draw. If takes a bit to get it set just right, but it makes you come back to full draw.
