There is a field across a main road from where i hunt that turkeys regurly feed in. The turkeys always enter and exit field on that side of road and are never seen on my side. If i put a feeder out within 100 yds of them but on my side of road will they come. Will they know about it from crow noises

Depends on how much cover is on your side, they don't like being too far from someplace safe. If their hungry enough they'll eat off your front porch. I've seen them at bird feeders in the middle of town.

Corn, or use some Milo mixed in. Most likely it would take a few days for them to realize there is food available, but once they do, like Will Tell said. They may feed on your front porch.

Ah I hate bait threads. I know I can just not answer but baits not hunting and many places even where deer legal not turkey legal thank God. They’re gonna break up soon or maybe now depending on your location. They aren’t going to stay in one spot

Says you can’t bait in Virginia. Can’t bait n be a man I say!!! Lots of guys just got real upset. Who cares what I think. If it’s legal and you can do it do so if that’s what you want. I hope all this bait junk changes though and I surely hope no one condones breaking the law. Placing corn in your state is bait

100 percent legal in va. From the first saturday in january to september 1st. IF the area is going to be hunted the bait has to be removed for 10 days.

Ok so you can’t sit over an active bait. If you expect them to stay ten days after you quit it prob won’t happen. If something isn’t attracting them there like natural or unnatural food they’re not gonna stay. There’s gotta be some by you though if you’re only off a hundred yards from a flock once they break up. This is real basic stuff and besides the moral aspects why I am no fan of baiting. We don’t learn anything but carrying bait. That’s a shame. Doing it illegally is a bigger shame. Learn to find birds near you. That’d be my advice not carry corn, mix it w seeds, stir it counter clockwise and throw it perpendicular. There’s no magic to that. Game animals are better than just targets. It’s the whole experience. Lots of guys forget that. Kinda figured guys doing things the hard way would understand that.

Sometimes all you need to pull a turkey us a couple of decoys and a little bit of calling. Timing and patience is everything with turkey. Both is something I need more of.

My experience with cameras over feeders in the spring shows that the turkeys will quit coming to the baited area about three days after the bait runs out. I tried to get them to stay on my land after deer season. We also have to wait ten days after the last kernel is gone, so I stopped 15 days out. Takes em four days to clean up, another day or two after that and no more turks on the camera.
I think they just find an illegal feeder then.

Yep usually a Jake is appointed by the flock to find an illegal feeder. Then he reports back to the Boss Gobbler, he tells the Boss where they are. Then only the chosen turkeys are allowed to go to this here feeder.I think they draw straws, but they don't have straws. So they bees using blades of grass the short ones picked get to wander over yonder, and feed on the illegal feeder.

I don't know about VA, but it Cheezehead land turkeys start to disperse around mid April. It's God's way. Turkey season doesn't really start until they disperse.
Now if your asking if you can attract them and shoot them before the dispersal in WI the answer is NO. And I would thing VA is the same, but KS isn't.

Put an elevated platform (6ft tall X 8ft square/diameter).
Place a free feeder in the middle of the platform. A 55gal drum works fine. Point is to keep the feed primarily on the platform, and off the ground. They'll scratch a lot onto the ground, but it won't matter.
Put it right in the middle of your property. Keep it filled the year around, and "DON"T hunt on it.
The platform provides an elevated perch, which the turkey like. They will eventually find it, and they will continue to come to it as long as there is available feed.
Then just hunt other places on your property as normal.
