How many of you use a trumpet turkey call? Just saw a hunting show showing a retired Methodist Minister using one and calling turkeys Really peaked my interest. Are the hard to use and what is the technique to make it work?

You need to suck air in. Some say almost like a kiss but that’s not exactly right. You also use your finger in the barrel to increase back pressure. Not plugging it mind you. Without that the call won’t sound right

If you can run any suction device it just adds to your repertoire. Jordan yelpers, wingbones, trumpets. You can you tube and see Marlin Watkins using one. There’s a few instructional videos too but they don’t seem to stress the back pressure

Had a custom one made for me and hunting buddy, he never got to use it, died before we took to the turkey woods. Just keep at it they do work. To day I had a gobbler strut when I did some calling. I was a happy camper!!
