BLOB targets

I just use hay/straw bales and ratchet straps. They hold up pretty good if you keep them covered and when they get too ratty, they make good garden mulch. I like woodsman's too, I've used them for years.

This time of year, PIGS. :)

I knew that was coming from Dendy. I may be about to do the same. :D At home I use a rhineheart 18-1 ball. I use my carpet stack for most practice and the ball for broadhead. But it's about time to put some pork on some pointy sticks.

Morrell targets Lucky 21 presented at the 2018 ATA show is claimed to be the cat's meow. I have to say the video was extremely impressive. There is a waiting list...

Live deer as my broad heads fly the same as my field points and I have not changed any of the variables in a number of years.

I fill up a cardboard box with spray foam. Works great.

thanks guys, I thought the good ole haybales would work ok , just didn't know if a broadhead would hang up upon removal. how many preference points does it take to draw for one of these blue barrel hunts anyhow ?

If you have a Tractor Supply near you ask if they have any foam shipping blocks the utility trailers have between them when a shipment arrives. I shrink wrap two blocks together and shoot into them. The shrink wrap holds them together and helps prevent little Styrofoam pellets getting everywhere.

Visit Rural King/Big Tractor Supply, what ever is in your area. They have blocks of foam about 12"x10" used for trailer spacing, they are free or maybe $1.00 for each. Shoot them up and buy more, Cheap...I get 4 and tape them together for a nice size target

I shot a lot of broadheads into my old Rinehart Rhinoblock before retiring it for a new one. Plus I always found that shooting a newly sharpened broadhead into that material was a great way to hone the edge.

Years back I asked the town crew to dump a truck load of sand on my land when they were doing the spring road cleanup.Life time target and free to boot. After it freezes solid in winter I use it as a backstop with hay bales.

Sand piles are great, if you like sand and mud all over your stuff. Makes your hands and leathers dry too. I shot it ONE time and that was it for me. Straw bales are a lot less messy.

Here is my future broadhead target. Made from a coulpe of discarded Hot Tub covers. Hope to get it coated and finished by summer.

David A. you mentioned the Morrell "Lucky 21" shown at the 2018 ATA Show. That really peaked my interest. I tried to look for it on line and could not find it but did find a Morrell "High Roller 21". Are these similar? I found it at the Midway site. Red with white dots which looks to be remarkably like a Rinehart in shape and size. Website showed it to be temporarily unavailable. Similar, different name, different product?

I use old shot out Rheinhart cores. They're free from clubs or comericial shooting ranges. Once in a while I do have to search for an arrow. The larger cores naturally work better.

I get most of mine free at tractor supply as mentioned above. they are packing for the pull behind trailers.

As for commercial targets Rhinehart are hard to beat. I bought a 3d deer target and it works very well. I've had the 18 one and it too is an outstanding target.....

I've been shooting into the same pile of dirt for 25 years and it's as good as the day I had it delivered.

Before I got a blob I used to shoot into a pile of saw dust. It wasn't as abrasive as sand.

76aggie, you are correct the new Morrell foam target is called the High Roller 21. Here is a video:

David, thanks for getting me lined out on the Morrell High Roller 21. I am going to pinch a few pennies and get one this year.

How are you guys shooting hay bales without pulling out big chunks when you retreave your broadheads?

From: JamesV
Date: 03-Mar-18

I keep a big pile of clean dirt. Works really good.
