I have never shot a self bow. I have been wanting one for a couple of years now. I don't have the confidence in attempting to make one, so a purchase would be the obvious choice.
Today, I sent money for a Osage 62" r/d self bow. Its 48# @28", has nice black limb tips....could be horn. It is non- stretch string approved and is coming with a D97 string. It was made by Mark Smeltzer of Bowmakr.com.
I hope to have it to shoot this weekend.

Mark made me a bamboo backed Osage with zebra wood and wenge riser- pictures are on his website. Super nice guy and builds a really nice bow. I'm sure you'll love shooting it.

Mark makes great bows and self bows . I have a a little 58 inch Osage recurve backed with sinew . And rattlesnake . Very powerful good shooting bow . He's a good guy two
