so I met this guy while ice fishing, we started talking bows, he gave me an Osage stave. It is bent, I laid it next to a straight edge to try and capture how off it is. My question is this useable to make a selfbow or is it too far out of true?

Very usable, Dry heat from a Wagner heat gun can move osage ALMOST any way you need it moved. Step one, get that bark and sapwood off to see what you are dealing with under there. Then you can devise a plan as to what the stave is capable of being.

So far I don't see anything too bad. Like Pearl said, once you remove the bark and sapwood, you'll know more.

That doesn't look bad. As long as it isn't full of drying cracks it should make a good bow.

It is bent in the way of a natural reflex. Pearl and Osage Outlaw is who I would listen to.It is their speciality. >>>----> Ken
