I could do exactly what Ted did, but I don't have any snow and as Frank said, I would have to call on the Calvary to get back up or into the ambulance.......LOL!
I took a break from sawing dead limbs out of the trees and did my FS.
I couldn't string my Hickory bow this morning so I shot my old standard at 15 yards.
Thanks Chad, tried the "crow shot" at 25yds for a change, cut his throat maybe, depending on the BH. But in any case, I'll take it! Y'all have a safe and wonderful weekend! This'll be the warmest few days in a while for us.
42 sunny degrees here today. I was going to do a walk up, but just shot two from 30 yards, standing. The first shot hit close to where I was holding and I pulled the second one. My beagle and I are going back out and take advantage of the nicer weather.
I thought I would try the shot Ted did. (Picture of Indian shooting the turkey) 10 yrds in that position with bow about horizontal with 51# Yellowstone Hunter. 1st shot was the bottom arrow in a slight angle. That's a Tuff Shot! I also shot all my arrows from the quiver since i was down. I wasn't to graceful getting back up. :^)
Yeah.... I had already done my first FS of the day, but then (thanks to Ted) I got inspired to give the self-videography a shot.... with the camera pointed about 8 feet away from myself.... LOL
GOOD THING I’m more accurate with the arrows!
So here is my ACTUAL FS with the Howatt Hunter.... A hair high. ‘Bout an inch. 17 yds.
Thought about Ted's shot but had I taken it, I'd still be out there rolling around like a carp. So I shot 17 yrds sitting, fs was high left, second was in there 3rd& 4th not so good. 45# Sage and 2213's. Thanks CD and y'all have a great weekend
Thanks for the call, CD. I am impressed with all the shots, especially Ted's in the snow! My feet wouldn't handle that! I tried to also pull off the "squatted Indian behind the log shot at a turkey" shot, and Ted's video inspired me. I'm not quite as limber as Ted but I can still manage to get down like that somewhat. Shot from 12 yards, squatted with serious bow cant. #45 Martin/Howatt X200, 1816 aluminums. Thanks for allowing me to participate!
Some creativity and great shooting this weekend. I'm in the middle of moving but stole 5 minutes because I just had to shoot an new-to-me bow, 1964 Howatt Hunter. I grabbed a handful of assorted arrows and did a 35,30,25.20.15 walk-up. The 2016's with 125 grain screw-in field points and the MicroFlite 6's with 125 grain glue on's shot better of the flat shelf than the GT Trad 3555 and the MF 8 was too stiff.
I shot from my comfort zone distance of 22 yards, but elevated 15' from my deck, shooting downhill. Shot Bear Montana 55# and GT500's. First shot was a good one and the rest to follow all in kill zone. Have a great football Sunday!
17 yrds sitting turkey shot again but with my turkey bow for this season. Gotta get some softer spine out the 2213's are pretty close. FS touching the lid, 4th shot touching the first. Hope all are having a great weekend.
I strung up my Hickory and grabbed Five arrows and shot from 15 yards, I just didn't feel like doing anything tricky, been tired lately, probably a cold coming on.
That 52 lb bow sure feels good after shooting a 40 and recently a 45 lb bow lately. When I draw, it is absolutely smooth, but I can feel the extra weight and the authority that it shoots the arrows, not kidding, The best bow I have ever owned, this is a hunting bow, I wish I didn't have heart disease.
I'm still going to do some hog hunting this summer, being over 70 I don't need any kind of licence, fishing or hunting. They figure at my age how much damage could I do...Ha!Ha!
LightPaw, nice shot and thanks for the video. You guys are adding a whole new dimension to the first shot. I hope Chad and Big John don't make it mandatory, I had a hard enough time figuring out the pictures. Lol
