I made a point to make it to this even last year. It was a blast (though my personal worst shooting). All the guys/gals was great to meet and share time together. I stayed in Muncie, and had a short drive to the range and back, plenty of places to rest and camp on ground. They also have a nice pound. You will not be disappointed, I will be attending again.

“What is the difference between American semi longbow and longbow? ”

Hi John,

An American Semi Longbow limbs are straight, stringfollow, or reflexed. In the Longbow class an archer could use a R/D longbow.

Your Wes Wallace longbow is a wonderful longbow with R/D limbs.

I have a follow-up question concerning those who don't keep score. Our family has always shot together. It is a family activity for us. The children actually grew up attending 3d shoots. We went through a keeping score phase for a few years and all of us picked up a trophy or two here and there. Last couple of years we went back to just enjoying the various courses around the nation as a family. So, my question is whether our group has to be busted to shoot.

Hi Kirk,

Sunday morning is a shotgun start. All shooters pickup their scorecard at 8am and starts shooting at 8:30am. We always assign the Cubs and Youth with their parents. So you won’t be broken up.

“Are the I.B.O. (Not sure about trad targets) rules as far as max distance shots on targets being followed or should I bring a rocket launcher and a spotting scope?...Anybody on the west coast heading that way? I think i will be driving to this.I need to start going to more shoots other than the local stuff.See how you boys stack up against my eagle eye.I aint skeered.I take on all comers.”

Hi Larry,

The Trad Bowhunter World Championship follows T.A.S. rules. The rule for distance depends on the size of the animal. Smaller animals are closer and larger animals are further away however, an elk could be set at 10 yards. It’s a bowhunting event.

From: Clydebow

The max distances at the I.B.O. Trad shoots, depending on the class, are 25 and 30 yards, so you hardly need a rocket launcher.

Don't worry, Darren makes the T.A.S shoot a great event.

For the above mentioned special targets shoot: Thanks to TAS and Darren for letting me try this hopefully fun special shoot!

TAS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP FANTASY TARGET SHOOT

Mode of Competition:

+ Everyone who wants to shoot signs up and pays the starting fee. + Depending on number of shooters, we will separate into shooting groups. + Arrows may have to be retrieved between shooting groups if it gets too crowded on the target. + max. two archers shoot side by side + Youth and cubs will form their own shooting groups. Starting distance will be different from Adults. + Paying the starting fee qualifies you for the first round. + You are allowed a maximum of 2 arrows per round, cubs max. 3 arrows. + We will start to shoot at around 23 yards, youth 15 yards and cubs around 10 yards. + Target will be the Dragon, Troll or Swamp Imp (the yellow thing) target. + Different targets may be assigned to different age groups. + Not all areas of targets will be counted as hits. + Target areas counted as hits will be clearly designated prior to shooting. + Of course, no binoculars allowed. + This will be a hit or miss game. If you score a hit with the first arrow, you are done for this round. If the hit is questionable or you hit a part that does not count as a hit or missed, you are allowed a second arrow. (Cubs up to 3 arrows). If you score a hit during the first round, you will move on to the next round. + If you miss with both arrows (cubs with 3 arrows) you are out. + Consecutive rounds: Second round: We will move the shooting line back 8 ft. Same modus as in round one. Third round, we move the shooting line back 9 ft. Same modus as in round one. Forth round we move the line back 10 ft.Same modus as in round one. Fifth round 11ft. Same modus as in round one. + For additional rounds we move back (previous move back distance +2 ft). + Last man standing wins, the second is who shot against the last man standing. + If there are multiple people in the last round who all missed, there will be a shoot out at that same distance with one arrow each. + If multiple people hit, then the line will be moved back again and the game continues with two arrows until first, second and third place are determined. +After each round, there are max. 3 minutes allowed to search for missed arrows, so bring replacements, or just hit the target :-))

Location: to be announced after checking with the hosting club

Shooting times: to be announced after coordination with Darren and the hosting club

Approximate shooting time: 45 minutes (based on previous experience with around 50 shooters who signed up, so can be faster or slower)

50% payout of shooting fees of each age group to each age group. First Place 30%, Second 20%, Third 10% In addition to the payout, the first place in each age group will be awarded a trophy matching the theme of the shoot.

Shooting fees: Adults (16 and older) $6, Youth(12-15) $3, Children under 12 $2.

Sounds like fun? Different? I hope that we'll have many shooters enjoying this different novelty shoot experience.
