Gents, I hope this finds you thriving in the rut. By now most of you are probably suffering from a stiff, swollen neck, you're pissing on the neighbors lawn and you unexpectedly find yourself pawing in the rose bushes. Don't worry, it will subside by December.

My speaking schedule has kept me from the woods a lot this season. I've been out five times, but have managed to kill two. Today was interesting. Had five does coming right at me. I took the best shot I had (3 yards) and hit her well. She ran 100 yards and dropped. When I got her, she was a he.

The deer was almost dead, but not hardly, so when I realized that it had testicles but no horns I asked, "What's going on? Why do you not have horns? You are a dude."

With it's dying breath the deer answered, "This is the 21st Century man, we can get to choose if we're dudes or dudettes."

;-)

Happy hunting gents.

I drove from Oxford MS to north of Detroit MI a couple weeks ago. I saw deer all along the way, but my gosh there must ha e been 100 of them on the natchez trace between the Alabama-Tennessee line in Franklin where my sister lives. If you're anywhere near there seems like you oughtta pretty much have your pick.

I was shooting my Martin X-200. I've killed a lot of critters with that bow - huge turkey, dozen squirrels, and maybe 25 + deer. Port Orford Cedar arrows and a traditional Bear razerhead.

3 yards. He/she could have given you a bit more room to draw your bow Jimmy. Good for you!

Looks good, but I have no idea how you got drawn so close?

For a minute there, I thought he was hunting in Australia!!

But hey- that’s a Cull Buck if ever there was one.

I would hate to be a deer in Ranger B’s neck o’ the woods.

Congratulations! And that is the funniest hunting story I have read in a long time. What if Barry Wensel reads this one?
