I was shooting a 47lb recurve. Took a 12yrd shot at a descent buck. Hit him in low on the neck a little in front of the shoulder. He took a couple hops and the arrow fell out. He stuck around for a few more minutes then just walked away like nothing happened. He he was standing 30yrds away after the shot, I looked at him with my binos. I could see a small cut but no blood coming from it. Afterwards I got down from my stand and I seen him again in a picked bean field about 150yrds out. He was acting like nothing happened. This is my 36th or bowhunting. I've never had this happen. I was using some Magnums heads a guy gave me. Latter I switched back to my Zwickeys Eskimos.

Bone can be hard even on some of the best broadheads. But to answer your question yes.

I've used Magnums in the past with good results. Zwickeys have always been my go to heads. That's what I have on my arrows now. When I've struck bone before with my Zwickeys they didn't do that. It's a first for me.

Had two bend but they both done their job. One on a deer 16yds other one on an elk 22yds. They are really soft and take an edge quickly though....shoot straight

You hit the shoulder joint. Bad shot. Which happens and I have done it on a deer walking toward me. Next time you butcher a deer take your big knife that you don't care about and try to drive it through that spot with a hammer!

If you use a grizzly 175 with a steel adapter and footed carbon arrow you won't have this problem. I shot mine into a rock and it just dulled the tip a little. Contrary to what some of the guys on this site think not all broadheads are created equal.

It was obvious I did not hit the shoulder. I watched this deer after the shot. He was under 30yrds I was looking at the wound through my binos. The wound was low and between the white patch and the shoulder. Too far up the neck to hit the shoulder. He was completely broadside, walking slowly. I've made that shot many times, but just screwed this one up. No excuses. Just rushed the shot and didn't concentrate like I should have. I did wonder if these were a knock off. The Magnus I used before seemed fine, but I did make a better shot. Oh well at least the buck seemed to be doing fine, that's the most important part anyway.

If you hit at the base of the neck just ahead of the shoulder you hit the scapula. Its killed a lot of broadheads over the years.

One of the reasons I started using Zwickeys years ago was, one of my hunting buddies showed me a hog skull from a hog he had killed. On the front centered just above the eyes was a hole the size of an arrow. When you turned it over and looked inside you were looking at a Zwickeys Eskimo. After seeing that I was sold on Zwickeys. 30+ plus years latter they still have not let me down.

I've shot many deer with that same Magnus head, did not lose any deer and yes I have one that bent the same, horrible walking shot..it hit bone in both rear legs, broke bones and bent blade, I switched to Magnus stingers and no issues, I also use grizzlies. Send it back to Magnus and they'll send you a new one. Very good on their warranty.

Soap Creek, I had a Magnus bend like Stonewall's, only about three or four times moreso, on the fang tooth of a big male baboon in Zimbabwe, with Barry Wensel as a witness. Barry was very interested in the Magnus and I may have given it to him, which was just prior to their new three-blade broadheads. The baboon ran off with headache and I had new respect for large teeth. I also transitioned to Ribtek broadheads but still use Magnus and try to chisel or tanto shape the tip on all broadheads. Barry caught it on video. It was a "huh" moment.

A week earlier I shot a doe. No problems, but in the center of the kill zone. Quite a different shot placement. If you hit where your supposed to most any sharp broadhead will work. I'm sure Magnus heads have taken a lot game. I was just surprised how much it bent.

Frisky don't need broad heads he uses the bumper or someone else does for him. He just goes and takes a picture as a formality so it looks like he got one.LOL
I have bent signal blades as well as broke them off too. Grizzly's bent a few hitting rocks on missed shots.

Yes. Several times. Same broadhead too. Magnus II, 125 screw in. Most all of mine happened when the head struck the off side shoulder. It had done its job by then, but even so- you'd rather your broadhead NOT bend. Period. The glue on mag IIs are a little sturdier. I have never had any zwickey head fail. Just for fact.

I had a Zwicky fail in mid air. Probably the only person who has ever experienced it. I should take a picture and post it in the thread. I put a 5/16th Zwicky on an 11/32" steel adaptor and took a shot with my Deathmaster. At release of the arrow, I heard a loud metallic ping. I thought, what the heck was that? I went over and looked down at a soft bag target and the Zwicky had penetrated through it and the welds had failed on one side. Evidently, I hadn't glued it well enough and the force at release caused the adaptor to drive up into the ferrule and break the welds. Anyway, I heard the ping, at release, and not upon impact. I learned you shouldn't use the fat adaptors on the skinny ferrules.

The last day of our 2001 Africa hunt in Zimbabwe 4 of us shot an elephants shoulder blade to see what would happen. Rocky Mountain titanium blew up, Bear razorhead rolled up, Ribtec 145 folded and Zwicky Delta stuck into the blade. Zwicky didn't bend at all, the arrow popped out of the head though.

I've had Zwickey Eskimos do the same thing and the ones with bleeders come apart at the welds. I also have had my practice Woodsmans curl up. I switched to woodsman elites about 7 years ago. One piece machined broad head. I have had no issues since.

Almost the same story. I had a Zwickey Eskimo look exactly like that from a 47# recurve and 15yd shot. Decent buck dropped and turned into the arrow. Perfect shot ended up hitting bone. Sounded like I hit a 2x4. After a short run it walked away. I saw it a month later looking great.
Wasn't the broadheads fault.
