I have hundreds of these growing in my yard. They grow every fall they are also kind of sticky when broke open. Any thoughts?

Matt-there are people in the grave due to someones opinion on type of mushroom, edible/non-edible so i strongly urge you to find your local Mycology expert and be sure to varify his credntials-not just "hey , ya I am an expert, you betch ya"

Thanks for your concern. I spoke to a crypto zoologist and she said to come here and talk to the Jeff's about the matter. I did a taste test yesterday and saw a dragon on top the school bus. So before i eat a whole one I thought it wise to ask the Jeffs. I really do appreciate your concern. Thanks everyone

Wish I could help ya there Matt but I only pick/eat puffballs, seems like all the others got a twin that will make your skin melt or something. Even with the puffballs there is one that looks like it but very small that is not good for ya. I pick them when they are about the size of a cantaloupe. Taste kinda almond like to me. I fix them up with deer meat and gravy and good with pheasant too!

I believe the spored ones are Bitter Bolete; is there a white pine close by? I don't believe they are poisonous but they are not tasty.

Special Facebook groups are the only thing I like about Facebook and keeping in touch with certain friends. Other than that I don't look at anything else. If I don't like the junk some put on there I block there JUNK :-) JF
