Hit the big woods today as all the deer went to bed early, worn out from making scrapes and chomping hickory Pignut and Shag nuts all night. Stopped counting at 20 scrapes and one had some good size droppings in it. Felt good to move about and not sweat! Great day to be alive and enjoying creation!

FURRY, Looks like the deer droppings are from a healthy deer! Glad that You were able to get out!

My thoughts exactly Batman, and from a mature one at that, darn near the size of the hickory nuts-lol

Fiery

That looks like a large scrape. Do you ever put cameras on them? I would keep an eye on that in anyway. My favorite time to hunt is the first two weeks s rapes appear.

i take pics with phone and my olympus tough camera in person, a friend of mine had put out trail cams and it is a very large 8

I have noticed that generally a mature buck will only check certain scrapes along a scrape line. For instance when a scrape line is along an old logging road or dim trail a mature buck will circle an area and may cross the road in a couple places to check certain scrapes. Being able to determine which scrapes he keeps active and why helps pattern why and where he might be.

So far Lv2bowhunt that forkhorn that came by around 9am this mourning is the only deer I seen on it-but there are 5-6 over there 20 yards from my stand in a 20 yard circle and I seen another buck come through there earlier in season that is an older basket rack'ish deer and a spike and a short tine wide 6pt. Nothing yet that would match the print in the one with poo in it.

oh..then there are 4 more scrapes on the other side of me and not sure how many on the firetrail comming in. I'm sorta surrounded by them actually. I normally wold not hunt this spot but it is a nice place to sit and enjoy nature as the view is geat looking down the huge ravine and the double split at the point. Getting nailed with hickory nits though is getting old- haha!!
