The riser of a 3pc. long bow? From where to where? For a friend!

"Bought a Bob Lee Smoke a while back and have been shooting it off and on.

Measured the riser and it measures close to 15" and web site says it should be 17?

At first I thought maybe it had Smoke limbs on a different riser but I did not see a 15" riser

I guess however they want. I would think it would be to the limb bolts, or where the limb butts against the riser, because that's where you would start with the limb length.

That was my thoughts also.

Post a pic. BL discontinued the 15 inch risers a few years ago. Standard riser sizes now are 17, 19, and 23 and the occasional 21 inch.

More proper to measure to the ends of the limb platform, because that is the pivot point for the stresses on the limb. I would measure in a straight line from edge to edge of the platform, with the riser lying on it's side.

Well this thread officially ended when Larry weighed in, but just to see how close manufacturers are, I measured 3 ILFs I have at hand, and ther 2 were dead nuts to the OAL, and one was 1/8" off OAL. Sorry OAL is overall length.

I was taught to measure them as Larry indicated.

It's a 15" handle, which we produced for years. Should measure close to 15.25" from end to end.
